Stock - Cust trying to order more than in stock

Eureka!

In the Admin go to Catalog -> Product Types -> Product - General
Click "edit layout"

Edit "Show Quantity in Stock" to True and the number of units in stock will appear on the product page.

I knew it was there somewhere!

BTW this does not prevent a customer from ordering more than is in stock, but it does let them know what you have.

The default settings will indeed display that sort of message.
For example, go here: http://www.zen-cart.net/index.php?ma...products_id=22 and add 20 to your cart, and you'll see the error message.

Check stock level = true
Subtract stock = true
Allow Checkout = false (default is 'true', but 'false' will prevent checkout if they try to buy too many)
Mark product out of stock = ***
Stock Re-order level = 5
Products status in Catalog when out of stock should be set to = 0

With all above settings set as suggested, you can place 20 in your cart and you get the "Available Stock" error message,however you can still continue to check out with the larger quantity. Any way to disable the "Continue Checkout" button until the quantity is fixed.
Maybe a simple if..then..else statement?
