Default Is there any way to allow customers to search their orders?

Is there any way to allow customers to search their orders?

We sell ebooks and have a lot of repeat customers who want to find a particular book in their order history so they can download it, but there is no way for them to do that. Unless I'm missing something?

Nothing currently, but that's a good idea. I've opened a discussion regarding that feature here: https://github.com/zencart/zencart/discussions/6513

Regular customers and Guest Checkouts that create an account have access to all previous/current orders. I haven't tested the scenario where a customer makes one or more guest orders and later creates an account with the same email. They might not be able to see orders prior to the account creation.

Apparenly, the only ones not able to view order history are the OPC Guest checkouts that do not create an account. Perhaps adding a "Force Account Creation" option in OPC where the storeowner could set it to True if needed?

Yes, customers can view their order history. But all they see are the order numbers.

We have customers with hundreds of orders of one or two items each. If they are looking to download a book they ordered in the past, they don't know what order number it might be and they can't find the book.

At the moment we are trying to redesign the order page to list all items published in a sort of library, instead of listing the orders. But it would be nice if customers could search their existing products quickly.

We do not allow guest orders on our site. All orders have to be linked to your email address. We have had a few issues where somebody will create a second account under a different email address and then we've had to merge the two. But we're looking for a search option within the orders of one customer.

It's a solid suggestion for a new capability. Thank you @jmsnyder23!

Perhaps you are using a template other than responsive_classic or bootstrap. Both bring up a list of orders with a View button next to the order.

Clicking on the View button lets the customer see what was ordered.

Yes, our template is responsive and uses bootstrap. But we have been in business for 14 years. We have customers who have literally hundreds of orders. If they are looking for a title they purchased 3 years ago, and they have an order for every week of the year, that's a lot of searching to do.

We have added a script to tell a customer if they have already purchased a book before, but it doesn't provide a link to the original order so they could download the files. Our files do not expire, so if somebody has a computer crash, they can come back at any time and download their books from our site.

But if they are looking for a particular book they purchased years ago and they don't have the original order number, they're never going to be able to find it. We have over 3,000 books on our site!

Until this feature is ready, bear in mind that you can do this from the admin side. Go to Admin > Products Purchased, and enter the product id.

Thank you! Yes, I told the customer I could search in the admin side of things for the book she's looking for. But I know there are many people who don't like to email a website to ask about something and just get angry because they can't find it themselves.

Has there been any other interest in this? My customers would really appreciate it! So would I, even if it was a paid plugin.
