Orders come back empty

I have looked high and low for a solution to this problem, even read through this forum but can't seem to find the solution.

Orders are coming back empty. At first it just happened from time to time and no pattern. My Webshop is english and german. At first only with german but today for the first time with english as well. Couple of times it happened with invoice, but the last few times with Paypal payments. And it's becoming more frequent.

I have not made any changes since this started happening.

Does anybody knows why this could be happening? Or where I should be looking for the error?


ZC version is 1.5.6 (I know this is not new but updating is difficult for me)
PHP 7.4 (I also understand I need to upgrade)
I use Paypal Standard

Have you checked for logs? Could mismatched columns when saving. Recent moves, changes or upgrades?

My money's on PayPal not responding in time to save the order. PP standard uses the old API, I think it might be dead at this point.

It means a customer places an order, goes to checkout and takes Paypal. The money is deducted from the paypal account and then the order is saved in the Webshop but there are NO items. It takes the money.. but no products on the order. Neither the customer nor I get a confirmation order from the shop. I only see the order if I log into the Webshop and the notification from Paypal that I have recieved a payment.

As for the Paypal standard.. I have 3 ways of using Paypal. Standard, Express and Pro.

Yes, we checked logs but they didn't really point anywhere.

In the meantime, we asked customers (that were affected) which payment they used - Paypal or Creditcard. So it seems this affected customers using Creditcard, without logging into Paypal. After alot of research, it seems that in Europe the Creditcard option (for non Paypal customers) is not available anymore.

We have successfully installed the Paypal Express, which works, but this doesn't offer a Credit Card option. For this we need Paypal pro but as I said, not available for Switzerland at this stage.

Does anyone know a way around this?

PayPal via credit card was introduced by PayPal at a later time. So if you allow Paypal via credit card you need a proper Payment solution plugin installed which can handle that.

I'm not 100% sure of that but the linked payment solution is for the latest PayPal changes.
I've used just PayPal Express since 10 years so I'm not into it that much.

I have looked at this mod, but it seems there is still discussions about how good it works. It also doesn't say it will work with my version.

Right, just to close this topic of. Apparently using Credit card via Paypal, without logging in, is not available in Switzerland. It seems that this option is only available in 3 countries. I have now installed the Paypal Express and orders are now coming through okay.

Try following the steps at https://myzencarthost.com/index.php?...d-Setting.html to set up the credit card option in your PayPal.

If these options are not on your account, you may need to upgrade from personal to business.

Please let us know if these steps are not available to you. I've just checked and they are working for me.
