I have been a forum member for many, many years. A few weeks ago I was able to login using my username: "sports guy" and clicked on some link and all of a sudden I got a notice saying I was permanently banned from this forum. With no reason" As I only ask questions and look up issues, it obviously it was some weird security setting that blocked me for no reason. Please unblock my username so I can continue as "sports guy" I would like that long standing profile back. Thank you.

My username that is banned has a space after sports: sports guy. I logged in again and still get the permanently banned notice. See pic below. FYI All I did was update my e-mail address after like 12 years of use in this form and then the ban took place. Not sure if its related to me updating my e-mail or my newer Firefox or Brave browser or whatever. So far I have no problems with my new account (this one) just yet.

I've only been around a little over 20 years, but I've never known of a username with a space. Lots of usernames with underscore in place of the space, but none with a space. You might try creating sports_guy as it is not currently listed.

Good point. However, my profile is 18 years old (2007), I am not changing it now. I have a new profile but, I like my old one better it has lots of connections and history. The space worked in this forum back when I created it, and still does for my profile anyway. Can't do that anymore I guess. As I keep telling my significant other, younger is often worse, not better
