Substract Stock Option Not Working

This is a fresh install of 2.1.0. Using Classic Responsive, Installed EP PHP 8.2

I do not need to use the Options Stock manager, however I appreciate that it is there as it will likely come in handy. I had it switched to disabled then found that the shopping cart would not allow me to add products as it gave me a 500 error. As soon as I enabled it all was good. However, I want to remove the "back-ordered" display on the shopping cart page and the only way I was able to accomplish this was to add stock to all products, which is fine although I am hoping there is a switch. The other issue is I am trying to toggle the "Subtrack Stock Option" under the Confgure > Stock menu and when I click to edit and change from true to false, nothing happens. It stays true. I then checked the error log and received: products_options_stock_observer: STOCK_CHECK: false, STOCK_ALLOW_CHECKOUT: true, STOCK_LIMITED: true. I am not sure what this is telling me. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Go to Admin > Configuration > Options Stock Manager > Stock Status Display: Show Messages?

You can turn these on or off.

If you don't need a stock-manager for your store, I'll suggest you remove POSM completely, i.e. navigate to the admin's Modules / Plugin Manager, select the line for POSM and click the Uninstall button.
