Default Re: Stock by Attribute v4.0 for Zen Cart 1.3.5+

    Hi,

I'm using the current version of zencart and and thinking about installing this mod - however I have been using zencart for a while now and have a large product catalouge already set up (with many attributes...hence my need for this mod!)

If I installed this would I need to re enter all of my products that have attributes? And if not what would happen to those products that already exist with attributes?

    Thanks,
    Emma

PS my site is at www . butterfly - babies . co . uk

I would have thought that there were some advantages to customers being able to add out of stock products to a wishlist as then it would make it easier for them to buy them once back in stock? I suppose the only problem would be if you aren't planning on replenishing stock?

    Best wishes, Emma

    Hi Emma...
The problem is that right now, if you go click "add to cart", if you haven't chosen ANY options, you get the following alert:

Name:	zz.jpg
Views:	156
Size:	30.4 KB
ID:	6254
and are then forced to make actual options which then adds them to your cart.

Now if you were at that same page but instead of clicking "add to cart" you clicked "Add to Registry", you wouldn't get an alert, and non-options would be added as show here:

ID:	6253

There is no 'TEXT' option so I'm assuming this is just the default...it SHOULD look like this:

Name:	ze1.jpg
Views:	160
Size:	21.9 KB
ID:	6252

    Hi Lauren,

I can see what you mean - it is confusing for the customer. I've not started with this module yet so haven't got an answer for you . Good luck!

hello everyone! Hope this isn't answered somewhere in this topic... to many pages to search through..

I have a client that is having a problem and this is what he sent me in an email... could someone shed some light on this for me and lead me in the right direction?? Much thanks in advance!

Hi John the attribute issue that we are having
except for 1 attribute created in the attribute module all of the attirbutes were duplicated. the quantity on the new items was set to 3 on the dup items. we did not make any changes. Also the order is changing of the items. normally they stay in the order that they are entered but for some reason the cherry low goes into place with the marlboro grouping
    Thanks

It seems this is incomplete and not the correct module as it does not subtract stock from the attribute value when an item is sold.

Can anyone confirm the correct one to do this??

I can only speak for the plain 4.7 version, but with that no you wouldn't need to set anything up again, You would merely add stock to the attribute combinations for the products whose stock you wish to manage at that level.

Not answered in this thread as your client appears to be referring to a problem with the structure of his attributes. This module does not touch the underlying attributes or their structure and so can't be the cause of the problem.

This problem can occur because the AJAX version is incomplete, or because of installation errors with the other versions. There's plenty of information about both repeated several times earlier in this thread.
