Alternate languages not in search engines?

I have several languages for my shop, have had for several months now, and I did some research and noticed that none of the big search engines (google, yahoo, altavista, ...) have anything of my store with the non-standard languages, it only finds my store when looking for it in the default language (english).

I have key words for the alternative languages (put correctly), but if I google them, my site is not showing, could anyone tell me why no search engine can track my website in any other language than english?

Thanks

Re: Alternate languages not in search engines?

Vega, I happen to have 3 languages for my site as well and I can see google searches coming to my site using languages other than english.

I think if you use the google sitemap mod and make sure it is submitted properly (for all the languages) it will be searchable...

Hope that helps.

Another thought as well.. after sleeping on this one. You do realize msn.com, live.com, ask.com, yahoo.com and google.com are all English sites.... So if the English version is indexed, then it is proper.... why would they display something other than the English urls. If you want to know if your alternate language pages are indexed check the proper regional search engine. Like google.es ...etc.
