google images doesnt index my large images?

Hello,
I have been not maintaining our shop for at least a year or so and as a result we only used large images also for medium and small views and they were scaled by zen-cart.

However the shop is growing and for obvious reasons that had to change.

The plus before resetting all the images to thumbs, _med and _lrg was that we had a very high click thru from google images and almost all of our products were there to be found in the top ranking.
Now, after almost a month of being at properly inserted images i find out that we aren't indexed at all anymore in google images. (out of 1000 products we only have a 100 or so to be found in there and these are all old referrals to the old, big scaled images)
I expect thos last 100 to be out of there anywhere soon in the coming weeks :mellow:

Is there anything i can do to get google images to index again the images that are now to be found in the images/large folder?

Likely that the image changes caused some flux and Google is digesting your changes. Many times large scale changes will cause flux and cause pages/images to be temporarily de-indexed while Google determines whether or not to trust the content.

Image content is scrutinized very carefully by Google. We have seen Google pull folks from regular image search for using very normal words in their content like, l o v e r or similar. These result still display, but not with safe search on as it is by default.

As we are selling childrens stuff mainly i highly doubt the blocking of words on the pages will be relevant, but you never know..:blush:

Is there any possibility the images search bot wouldn't know where to find the large images as the popup script is used for the large images to show?

p.s.: you can see in the source i added some fancy hrefs to the large images in a way to try and "tell" the bot it can also find a large version, but not sure if that works. obviously, i cant use the "img src" for that which is most likely what the bot will look for.

Any clues please, i have been checking my site for x-rated or the like and the external links but nothing turns up that could be doing this, at least i can't find it.

Where can i turn to if i want more info on this, maybe this isn't zen-related (hence the lack of reactions/topics about this)
Any suggestion?

Cool, i did learn from it, but i still doubt i am actively blocked, i just don't get or see any proof for that.

Is there any zenner out there, or does anyone know a site that uses the normal, _med, _lrg function that is build in in the cart? I have seen tons of zen carts via the review my site in this forum but they are either using the lightbox or they are using just large images for every pic on the site (like i did in the past)

Would love to see a site using that functio and see its pics on images.

when i started this post i had 120 images left in the google images.
Now i am down to 62 left and none of the images in the large or medium folder are indexed.

Do i need to be more patient?
With over a 1000 pictures worth indexing i want the number to go up, not down :cool:

Would something like simple seo or ultimate seo solve this problem?

No, just good filenames..... urls will not make a difference for your image indexing.

Ironically, changing the filenames from 1234.jpg to this_is_my_great_pic.jpg is what started all this :wacko:

I just checked again, i have 5(!) images left that are listed and these are the ugly ones :)

PLEASE if you can give me any clue how to get my images listed again i would be so grateful.

web addresses.. like in and image are like phone numbers, only one for each page. When you changed the filenames, you changed the urls, and now they will have to be re-indexed just like they are 100% brand new images that Google has never seen.

Yes i can understand that, and i realised that.
In fact, i still have copies of the old named pics in the root image folder so they won't give a 404.

Ok, at the risk of pushing my luck here, i know noone can tell for sure, how long would you think it would take for any of those pics to be reindexed. If i would see just one of the new images to be reindexed i'll be happy and sit it out untill it has indexed some more.

It's just that none are indexed whats makes me suspicious.

If there is an error n my site, how long should i wait to begin thinking that may be the cause?

Heh, they heard me :shocking:
There are few images getting indexed finally and although it's just the thumbs for now, it's good to know images are finally getting indexed again.

So for me the lesson was learned here, start messing with your images and expect them to be gone for almost 4 months...

Off course, in my case i am a local shop mainly just delivering in my country so this may not go for other shops who maybe focus on a broader audience, but still...
