Search engine ranking

Is there a spot within Zen Cart that you can insert keywords per product or per category to help with search engine ranking?

Metatags for categories and products can be set up thru your admin. Look for the black "hazard" symbol in the legend.

Yes there is....

Category descriptions, product descriptions, defined text... these are all great places.

None of the top search engines use the keyword tag anymore, and Google does not use your description tag for rank either... Its value is to convince a searcher to click through.

Joking aside, create great rich and UNIQUE content for your pages with none-spammy relevant page titles and you are good to go.

I have just done some work on this but the problem I am having is we have secured our entire site with https, so search engines are not crawling the site, can we only secure certain pages? and if so where can I do this.

Only new at this so any help would be appreciated.

And just an FYI... search engines are not hindered by SSL pages in the least. They crawl them the same.

Thanks for that, I have done some investigating of spiders/crawlers and you are right the main search engines have no problem.
