Google Checkout-anyway to avoid being redirected to Google payment page?

Is there any way that I can set up the Google payment system so that the payment is made within the shopping cart system and not redirected to the Google payment page?I just think I am going to lose sales that way.

You might as well just open a merchant account and accept credit cards directly at your site then. And once you do that, you don't need Google anymore.

Yes, that's what I am going to do then. Do you agree that sales might be lost due to the way Google is set up?

No, I'd agree with kobra - people who use Google Checkout (and Paypal) know that's how it works, and are OK with it.

That said, I think a proper merchant account is a better idea.

If you want to cover all bases:

A merchant account, Google checkout and PayPal offerings would allow customers to choose their payment method

No. I believe that lost customers occur long before the payment page ever comes up. What I mean is...

When I arrive at an online store, I make some initial decisions about whether I want to shop there based on professionalism and organization of the store itself. If the store has professionally made graphics and template, well written privacy and about us pages, fair shipping and return policies, and no broken links or revolving doors to nowhere, then they are okay...so far. I don't like to see banner ads and confusing specials all over a store either.

Then I size up the selection and price offerings of their merchandise. If the descriptions and pictures are crystal clear and informative, then I feel safer. If anything did not scare me away by now I am feeling more confident. If they have exactly what I was looking for, I may take the leap.

By the time I arrive at the payment page, I have already made the decision to buy and my credit card is out of my wallet. As long as the payment methods are at least ones that I have heard good things about, I would give them a try. The fact that I get sent to Google to log in actually makes me feel safer because they are a household name all over the world.

You wouldn't have lost MY sale because of GCO.
