URL for Product with Pre-Selected Attribute Combination

Using 1.3.9h new install not yet live. Linux/Apache server.

The URL for a specific product with specific attributes set opens the correct product but leaves all attributes as default ...

... UNLESS the same product with those same attributes set happens to be in the shopping cart.

Repeatable on Mac/Safari, Windows/Firefox, Windows/IE

To replicate:

will hopefully take you to the correct product - 18-lever frame kit (interlocking), but it should have the attributes set as Interlocking Slots=8, With Conditional Locking = yes and With Auxiliary Switches = yes.

If you select some attributes, add the item to the cart, then right-click the cart to determine the URL, (strip the zenid if necessary), copy that URL into the address bar, you will arrive at the correctly attributed product, but once you have deleted the item from the cart, the URL no longer takes you to the correctly attributed product.

You will need to do a lot more work in the attributes controller for this to work.
Research on Display Only, Default, and Required.
You've mixed so many forms of attributes that it may be quite difficult to accomplish a setting where you are SURE a customer has actually made the selection they wanted.
Right now, the item is added to the cart without having to verify/make any selection.:lookaroun
