Remove accidental credit from everyone's cart? Help!

I accidentally sent out a $20 credit to all my account users. I sent out an email clarifying the situation so hopefully no one will order.

BUT...

When I test, in my shopping cart, there is still a $20 credit. How do I remove this?

Did you send these as Gift Certificates or how?

These were sent via e-mail and gift certificates were generated for all customers by mistake, and now it is showing up when it is time to check out. I would like to get rid of all the gift certificates for all that was sent out.:(

The site is down for maintenance. I would like to get up and running again.
