Expiration date on products

For the zen cart users selling food and other products with expiration date it would be very useful to have a field in the database with expirations dates for each product:

a) Inform the client when is the expiration date of the product
b) Allow us to control stock and put products near expiration in specials or sale

There should be a field in update product with expiration date. Here the user would insert the closest one. Everytime a product sells out, it could clear this field or not, and we would manually update it.

Oh I apolagize I'm not a coder I can't code this, this was just a suggestion. But since some people need it does anyone want to form a fund pool to hire someone to do it?
