Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Hi All,

I just upgraded to 1.5X and went to reinstall this plug in. When i did I got this error at the top of the screen. How do i correct?

Warning Easy Populate uploads folder not found!
NIX SERVERS: Your uploads folder is either missing, or you have altered the name and/or directory of your uploads folder without configuring this in Easy Populate.
WINDOWS SERVERS: Please request your web host to assign write permissions to the uploads folder. This is usually granted through Windows server user account IUSR_COMPUTERNAME.
Your configuration indicates that your uploads folder is named temp/, and is located in XXXXXXXXXXXXX, however this cannot be found.
Easy Populate cannot upload files until you have provided an uploads folder with read/write/execute permissions for the site owner (usually chmod 700 but you may require chmod 777

'Folder not found' - Looks like the original** tempEP **folder is missing in the root directory. Or has the wrong name or wrong permissions.

Be sure to upload the original again and check that it's going to the correct location on your server.

Where should it be located? in the Store Root or in the YOUR_ADMIN folder?

Mine are all in the root.

I am trying to install the Easy Populate plugin. It shows up in the menu, but if I try to install it, or do anything at all, I get this:
"WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again." Refreshing does nothing.

At the top of the page is:
"Easy Populate Configuration Missing. Please install your configuration by clicking here"
Clicking here gives the same warning.

OK, I am really hoping someone can help. I have scoured threads and can't find exactly what I am looking for. I am using EZ populate csv with zencart 1.5.1 and I have installed it. I have opened in excel and put in my information as a test. The strange thing is, the model, manufacturer, and other information seems to work fine, EXCEPT only two fields: the "name" and "description" do not work. I don't get it. I have tried several ways and it all works except those two fields, so naturally, I see the categories and I click on it and there are no products on my site. (This is a brand new site just installed to test this ez popluate. ) Does anyone have any ideas? I am going crazy trying to figure this out.

I last did an EP on my site in early 2015 using several CSV files, including a one-liner. Yesterday I decided to use it again to add 35 items to my store, but no matter what CSV file I use ... even tried the old ones from 2015, I get this error on a new screen, across different browsers too ... and I also restarted the PC in case it was a browser cache problem. The message below is from using Firefox.

Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /shop/zcAdmin/easypopulate.php could not be found on this server.
Additionally, a 406 Not Acceptable error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

The message is somewhat different on Edge, which tells me it's not a message from EP ?
So I just went and installed the latest version of EP_CSV, but get the same error/message.

ANyone have an idea what is wrong ? Thanks !!

Has Easy Populate CSV been superseded by EasyPopulate V4 ?

All of the files that operate Easy Populate aren't on the server. This means it can install parts of the program until it reaches the missing files and stops.

Are you starting with a completely blank cart and trying to use EP to import a new spreadsheet full of products and categories

or

Do you already have products and cats in the cart and you're using EP to export then re-import to test?

after install ,I see the following problem when I was trying to Download Complete .csv file to edit (Attributes Not Included)

If by the file you mean easypopulate.php, it's there because I can invoke it and I see the EP screen. It's when I try to invoke it to process a csv file that it gives me the NOT ACCEPTABLE error, whether I ask it to use a csv file already in the tempEP folder, or one I ask it to fetch from my PC (which it then stores in the tempEP folder. At first I thought it was a permissions problem with tempEP but it is set to 777.

Any other ideas ? Thanks.

April 1, 2013. Two years since my last update... Version 1.2.5.4 does work with Zencart 1.5.x. but should not be used if it's a new install. The version by CHADDERUSKI (VERSION 4) is preferable, and it has a LOT of new features that are extremely useful. IF you are considering EP and have ZC 1.5.x, then use EP version 4.

I am running 1.5.5
I have successfully uploaded many products using Easypopulate.

I first created one item with all the attributes/options needed.
The exported list of options for this item is 98 lines long.
I changed the model number to one that needs the options loaded.
After I uploaded the attributes/options for this item it give me the message that the file was imported
But none of the attributes/options are displaying on the item
I have tried both Basic and Complete versions of the attributes file downloads as the basis for my uploads.

Any suggestions please!

Load up EasyPopulate V 4. It does not overwrite the 1.2.5.6 files, so remove these manually.

Takes 5 minutes, and V4 is MUCH better...

The older Langer version is far too out-of-date.

Just install V4.

Why isn't the products_id exported to the csv file? I know I can add it through the custom fields option, is there any reason I should not if I want that information?

There are multiple "variations" to the EasyPopulate concept. Each plugin as listed in the plugins section has a latest version. The "age" of that latest update may provide an indication of usability to various ZC versions, but is not a guarantee that it won't work with more recent versions. Some software is/can be written to survive many versions without modification just by the nature of how it operates/interrelates.

As far as installation, each plugin should have its own install instructions. Historically EasyPopulate related code doesn't require any site (file) modifications in order to install/operate. But the functionality offered by the plugin is what is traditionally different between the versions. They all seem to support some form of use of a "csv" file, though programs such as Excel generate a csv different than that of say Open Office. The difference can be significant when the plugin tries to read the file and import the data to the database. Basically it's like the difference of saving a file where the words all become capitalized in one version and maintain their capitalization in another, the end result is that the data "looks" different in the database when loaded from one file version versus the other.

So, if having difficulty "installing" the plugin, the suggestion would be to go to the thread related to that plugin and post what has been done, what has been attempted, what worked, what didn't etc, any errors logged in the applicable logging area, versions, etc... idea being that the issue should be reproducible for it to be considered a problem with the program otherwise there is something else causing the problem. :)
