Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Ok, I answered my question above.

However when I went to try and add categories, it only added a few of them.

I attached a picture of what I was trying to create and then the red dots are what was actually uploaded in 1 category string. What did I do wrong?

OK.

I added the categories manually. Not sure why categories would need a model #.

HOWEVER, when I tried to add products to those categories, only the first line is getting inserted into it. Each has it's own unique model #, and trying to insert it into a sub of a sub of a sub category. What might be the cause of this?

I was testing out adding products. I have a sub category I want them inserted into. I tried with 7 products to start out, and only the very first one is being inserted.

I think you are getting A LITTLE confused how EP works, EP sets out the product values, not your cart values, as you use a Model id for each product, so you set the Model id and the categories to that model, and for each individual model separately.

Ok, so when I want to upload products, instead of typing out the category names, I want to put the id #'s?

I already added the categories manually, so I don't need to bother with that part anymore with EP. I just am having trouble figuring out this mod.

This thread is great, however it would be nice if there was some how to use manual that came with the download

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Comtrad - The best way to see how EP works download each file and open it in OO or Excel and you will begin to see how it works.

For example:

v_prod_mod,v_cat_name_1,v_cat_name_2,etc,etc
5 metre,Cat5E PatchCable,Blue Cate5
1 metre,Cat5E PatchCable,Blue Cate5

this would put
5m cable in Cat => Cate5 Patch Cable =>Blue Cate5 and also 1 metre in the same,

but if you do this:-

v_prod_mod,v_cat_name_1,v_cat_name_2,,,
5 metre,Cat5E PatchCable,Blue Cate5,,,
1 metre,Cat5E PatchCable,Black Cate5,,,

this would put:
5m cable in Cat => Cate5 Patch Cable =>Blue Cate5
1m cable in Cat => Cate5 Patch Cable =>Black Cate5

The categories can already be set up you are just moving the product from one to another, but the categories have to be present as well as the Model id

So the 2nd example is the correct way then? I was doing what you are showing on the first example and that is when it was it was only inputing the first line.

I need to not have different products in the same category on the same upload?

Anything I can do to fix this or anyone know what the problem may be. I'm not sure when this started or why. Not a huge deal if I can't resolve it I guess.
I did a fresh install after a server crash corrupted my cart (it wasn't live yet fortunately) and I noticed this issue start when I had around 22000 items loaded in the cart. Now the results page never shows if I load 5k or 200 items from a .txt file. Any tips or an explaination appreciated.

This is back on page 124 of this thread (assuming you can't change the amount of replies on a page).

Anyway, my host recently had to upgrade our server to include the FreeType library for a CAPTCHA image. The IT guy said he had to do some other updates as well (he didn't specify what these were) but now my EP does display the results of the insert. It still takes a long time to display the page, but it gives the results as it did originally. Not sure what prompted this, I think he upgraded from PHP 4.x to 5.2.5 so I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not. Anyway, glad it is 'working' properly again.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Help Me Please....I am a newbie and so frustrated! Everyone assumes that you have some level of programming...I do not.

I'm finally starting to see some progress with zen cart, but I need to install Easy Populate. I'm having difficulty understanding the instructions. It states to change the admin name to suit your zen cart installation...hugh???? It also states to place the temp file in store directory...where is that? What???? When I installed zen it said that mysql database and mysql user is iicreate_zc1 ..... Is that the directory where i place the temp folder???? Please help me....I can follow directions if they are made clear to a novice...I have posted but no one has responded...and I have spent too many days reading posts that aren't apecific to my needs.....please.....HELP!!!!!!

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Realizingthedream- I did the same thing and it didn't work for either the first time I tried it. I did it again from scratch and it worked- forget changing the name, just copy the files so the admin folder contents just joins everything in the current admin folder and the temp folder just sits at the top level of your zen cart installation. Then do the installation code bits. Simple as.

I've got a bit of a question myself, most of the database fields are self-explanatory, the special from and to dates are a nifty feature, I love the way it works out the discount % and displays it! And obviously the prices, categories etc. BUT I don't understand what v_status is, and v_tax_class_title. Can anyone explain?

Also- any ideas why my database file turned itself to double-spaced?

Do items in the database join the ones currently in the shop? Or is the database the definitive list?

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

the v_status is the status of the product. 1=active 0=inactive. The v_tax_class_title is the name of a tax class. Leave it blank if the item in non-taxable, or enter the name of the tax class if it needs to have tax applied such as Taxable Goods (or whatever your taxable items tax class named Admin > Location / Taxes > Tax Classes)

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Hello,

I know this question has been asked many times but I could not find a suitable answer in the threads. I have attached my page which I have imported into the database. It is a M$ excel edited tab delimited file. I uploaded using filezilla into the temp folder and inserted the file into the database using easy populate in the admin. It says the file uploaded successfully. The problem is nothing shows up under categories or anywhere else for that matter. If there is a problem with the page I uploaded please point it out for me.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

ORDER of Headings incorrect.
SHOULD BE
i.e.

v_products_model v_products_image v_products_name_1 v_products_description_1 v_products_url_1 v_specials_price v_specials_date_avail v_specials_expires_date v_products_price v_products_weight v_date_avail v_date_added v_products_quantity v_manufacturers_name v_categories_name_1 v_categories_name_2 v_categories_name_3 v_categories_name_4 v_categories_name_5 v_categories_name_6 v_categories_name_7 v_tax_class_title v_status EOREOR

Word EOREOR should be entered under that heading for EVERY PRODUCT.
TIP..use OpenOffice for Easy Populate not MSExcel..

Some people change the name of the admin folder as a security measure. If you have not changed it then the file will still be called admin. The easiest way to set up this program is to use filezilla client which can be downloaded here. You will want to add the temp directory under the directory public html because that is where your store resides.
Then the rest of the files will go into admin etc. You will see the files you need to install on the left side of the filezilla client and the files on your server on the right side. Unzip Ep to your desktop so it will be easy to find. Then look at Ep using filezilla on the left and you should see the corresponding files on your right. Drag and drop the files onto your server and you should have an easy install.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

you should have an easy install.
If you don't use correct headings, that will not happen.

So basically I need to use the template that comes with EP and populate it using OOffice. Can fields that I don't use be left blank? Also what about the word EOREOR at the end? Anything I need to do with that?
