Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

I deleted all files and uploaded the mod as described in the instructions. All functions except the hover and hotspot seem to work ok. Is there anything else I can try or can someone check my site and maybe see the problem?

Thx Sweet

Hi,

One thing that I did that was different than the instructions was to put the javascript and css files in "my_template_dir/" (js files in the jscript folder and css files in the css folders).

You might see if that makes a difference.

Thx for hanging in there with me crabdance. I saw that too when I loaded the files and place a copy of the script in both places. Unfortunately that didnt work either.

Maybe some background will help. I loaded one set of large files (510 x 439) and let the mod take care of the sizing for the smaller images. The Small Image is set to 127 x 110 and the Product Info image set to 255 x 220.

Loading one file size is all that you need because IH2 will take care of the sizes. I know that when I change the size of my small images to be larger than 100x80 then the zooming properties go away and so does the little "plus" sign in the corner. Try making your small images 100 x 80 and see if the hover comes back on your small images.

Let me know what happened

ok, reset my Small Image and the Image - Product Listing to 100/80, cleared the IE cache and the IH2 cache, checked the website and confirmed the images resized to 100/80. Unfortunately no joy . I also turned on the hotspot and that doesn't show up either. Did the same thing in FF and still no luck.

How are you naming your image files?
It looks like you are adding "_LRG" to the file name.
Looking at your product list and product display pages I get the same image file name.
(basket01_LRG.jpg)
If you are doing this, you are turning off IH for that image.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

Hi,

Someone's posted this problem already, but couldn't find a fix for it...

When I turn watermarks on for all images (small, medium and large), only the small watermarks work.

Someone recommended changing the large and medium files to a GIF file instead, but this didn't work either.

Any ideas please?

Cheers!

PS - As a note, when I go to admin/image_handler.php?page=preview no images are showing up. When I view the image properties, they show as shop/shop/admin/images/ih-test.png instead of shop/admin/images/ih-test.png

Hi OJM,

I had the same problem about the dup directories. I had to re-install to get things to work right.

If it was me.
I would just uninstall from the admin after clearing the image cache.
Then upload fresh files then from the admin again install.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but this didnt solve the problem. I also found out another problem. One of the products has more than 3 pictures. It has pictures that are from other products.

Thios means that you have not named your additional images correctly and Zen Cart is confused as to which products they belong to. There's a FAQ entry which explains in detail how this works.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

Hi Kuroi,

Thanks for pointing that out. This could be the problem. But how did it happen as did not insert multiple images for this product. This product is supposed to have only tee.jpg as its only product image. However, in the IH2 manager, this product has the following images associated.
tee-back-view.jpg
tee-basic.jpg
tee-bynight2.jpg
tee.jpg
tee-chicago3.jpg

I thought additional images will only be inserted to a product when we name the filenames the following way using underscore. Does hyphen work as well? If it does, I might have to manually dissociate the irrelevant images.
tee.jpg (original)
tee_01.jpg
tee_02.jpg
tee_whatever.jpg

I thought additional images will only be inserted to a product when we name the filenames the following way using underscore. Does hyphen work as well?No and no. Additional images are any that share the same beginning as the base product name (i.e. less the extension) for a product. So in the case of a product with the image tee.jpg, absolutely any image that starts "tee" will be treated as an additional image for that product.

Hyphens, underscores and so on are just for good naming practise as they help to identify to you which images you intended as additional images.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

Hi Kuroi,

I think the main problem is the product has a very short original image filename (tee.jpg). I am worried that IH2 might mess up quite a lot of my other product images. I will have to check but so far I found only one. I name a lot of my product images according to brands or styles. So if I have 3 different types of CK T shirts. All of the images will start with ck-tee-, for example:

For 1st product titled as CK Tee V Neck, I have these pictures.
ck-tee-v-neck.jpg (original)
ck-tee-v-neck-2.jpg (uploaded and displayed in description)
ck-tee-v-neck-3.jpg (uploaded and displayed in description)
So according to your explanation, the uploaded ck-tee-v-neck-2.jpg and ck-tee-v-neck-3.jpg will become additional images of the original ck-tee-v-neck.jpg. But I checked some products, this does not seem true.

For some products, say 2nd product titled as CK Tee Long Sleeve, I have these pictures.
ck-tee-long-sleeve-3.jpg (original)
ck-tee-long-sleeve-2.jpg (uploaded and displayed in description)
ck-tee-long-sleeve.jpg (uploaded and displayed in description)
Will the uploaded ck-tee-long-sleeve-2.jpg and ck-tee-long-sleeve.jpg become additional images of ck-tee-long-sleeve-3.jpg?

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

dealbyethan.com:

I am worried that IH2 might mess up quite a lot of my other product images. This is nothing to do with Image Handler. It's how the underlying Zen Cart code recognises an additional image.

dealbyethan.com:

But I checked some products, this does not seem true.Provided you have entered ck-tee-v-neck.jpg as the image for the product, and have not changed the additional_images module in Zen Cart, this is how it works, except that it doesn't link the images together. What happens is that when the product info page is called, the additional images module then trawls your images folder for any images that start in the same way as the product image and calls the additional images template to display them. Do you have actual examples where this doesn't appear to be working?

Will the uploaded ck-tee-long-sleeve-2.jpg and ck-tee-long-sleeve.jpg become additional images of ck-tee-long-sleeve-3.jpg?I'm not sure what yuou mean by uploaded and displayed in description. Do you mean that you have embedded them in the product description? In any case, if ck-tee-long-sleeve-3.jpg has been entered as the product's image then ck-tee-long-sleeve-2.jpg and ck-tee-long-sleeve.jpg will be ignored as additional images as their base names ck-tee-long-sleeve-2 and ck-tee-long-sleeve and not extensions of ck-tee-long-sleeve-3.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

Hi Kuroi,

Thanks for your explanation. I am starting to getting a better understanding on how additional image module on ZenCart works and the problem I am having is not due to IH2.

Provided you have entered ck-tee-v-neck.jpg as the image for the product, and have not changed the additional_images module in Zen Cart, this is how it works, except that it doesn't link the images together. What happens is that when the product info page is called, the additional images module then trawls your images folder for any images that start in the same way as the product image and calls the additional images template to display them. Do you have actual examples where this doesn't appear to be working?

ck-tee-v-neck.jpg is the image for the product. I have not changed the additional_image module. When I said the additional image module did not work, I mean I didn't see additional images in the product info page. Could this be because I put the pictures in /images/ck folder instead of in /image folder? A good example can be seen here:
http://www.dealbyethan.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=27_111&products_id=2464

tophand:

Have you made sure you upload "all" the IH files and are not corrupt?
You are missing a stylesheet.
Right now IH is not working on your site, so have you installed it from the admin?
Admin-->Tools-->Image Handler-->Admin
If installed then click the link to uninstall.
(Note: You are not deleting any files by doing this)
After the page refreshes, you can click the link to install.

M

Thank your for your answer...
I deinstalled ih2 and uploaded all files again (after I have downloaded them again).
Than I installed it via admin as you described and uploads new images via admin/imagehandler2 .... but no better quali. I have imagemagick installed on our server and wrote $ihConf['im_convert'] = '/usr/bin/convert'; into the bmz_image_handler_conf.php....

don't know, what I could do more.....

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

I had this same problem as these two other users, just wanted to post the fix I found (simple) in case it helps anyone else. My IH2 simply stopped working one day, and I got this same message "No Image Handler information found."

After backing up everything, I tried the easiest thing first - in the IH manager screen, there is a link that says "Install Image Handler." I tried that (even though it WAS previously installed) and voila - back to working as normal. Thank goodness.

Hope this many help anyone else with same problem.

Best,
patrick

Everything was working great - but now my IH2 manager has stopped working - from admin/tools/image handler I get "No Image Handler information found." - if I go into IH Manager to pull up a product, the category shows but then if I use the dropdown it bounces back to IH admin screen.

The only file used by IH that was changed recently was the html_output.php - I added rollover button affects. The site works fine - both IH and rollover buttons but IH2 Admin is not working....

(this is killing me I've got about 50 products with multiple images I need to get loaded)

advice? ideas?

edit: well, at least I can now use the traditional zencart approach of using FTP to add LRG and additional images - whic IH does optimize - this did not work when I initially installed the contribution... I still recommend IH to people but it is quirky....
I have this EXACT same issue, any fix for this yet?
