Google Checkout module for ZC 1.3.x (beta)

i'm having problems with this..

i installed it and see no sign of google checkout ANYWHERE on my site. (http://wishgiving.com/index.php%29.

it's not on the checkout page, it's not on the product page, it's not anywhere..

i tried replacing the tpl_checkout_payment_default.php with the fixed one, that didn't do anything either..

Any ideas? :(

mbuttrey:

Thank Woody!
I was able to revese installation with success!
BTW! Do you know anyone that could install correctly?
Glad I could help.

  1. I know the free transaction fees are a major attraction but the mod is just very much beta right now. Unless you have the time/skill to keep on updating I recommend waiting for both Google Checkout AND the mod to mature.

  2. Also the kind of shipping configuration you require and support for taxes and many other variables, will determine if Google Checkout will work for you, as you need it. There are many basic Zen Cart features the mod and/or Google Checkout do not yet support, and much is yet to be documented.

  3. The mod is designed for Zen Cart v.1.37. The latest 1.3RC2 version uses core Zen Cart 1.37 files. But others have it working on 1.36 and maybe earlier version of Zen cart (but likely they used a previous version of mod and have not upgraded).

BTW I am not dissing the mod or Google Checkout. Although some policies of Google/Google Checkout are just over reaching. Google Checkout is what it is.

  1. When requesting support please report the version of Zen Cart you are running and the mod version you have installed.

  2. The tpl_checkout_payment_default.php was just for those having issues with Google Checkout label displaying on the Zen Cart payment checkout page. But since you could not get mod to display at all, not sure why you replaced that page?

  3. It appears you have not uploaded the mod template files to your proper template directory. What is the name of your template? "classic"?

Re: Google Checkout module for ZC 1.3.x (beta)

Have any of you experienced confused customers with google checkout?

Earlier this week I had a customer tell me that they went to google checkout to pay but there wasn't a place to add their credit card info.

Today I had another customer write this email.

guess I dont understand the "google checkout". Wanted to order the LF2 hummingbird feeder by droll yankees. Wanted to charge it to credit card.
Please advise. Thank you.

When I go to google checkout it has my username in the login, the order info above that, and nothing on the left.

I figured the customer didn't have a google checkout id so I decided to click on the "sign on as a different user button.

Walla the credit card form popped up, but it did take about a second or so.

I've asked my customers to try again, and one has emailed me that they still don't see a place to pay.

Any ideas?

I'm posting this in the google checkout forum as well.

Re: Google Checkout module for ZC 1.3.x (beta)

Woodymon:

You can edit posts for five minutes or so after posting.

What is your URL for your shop index page?

The URL responsehandler URL you previously provided
http://www.my-site.com/googlecheckout/responsehandler.php
indicates your shop is in your webroot. Are you certain?

If you shop is in a directory (as most people will install) then the URL would be something like:
http://www.my-site.com/your_shop/googlecheckout/responsehandler.php

If you provide a real URL we could tell you.

The XML, which you can paste into ropu's responsehandler test tool, should be in your log files in /googlechckout directory.

Copy/process one error entry at a time.

In your Google Sellers sandbox account are you certain you have selected XML for the Callback Method?

Testing sandbox via http is fine.

BTW I would not recommend posting callback XML info in the clear without first obfuscating (contains zenid, etc). Or PM to trusted people (ropu, etc).

  1. Need to know the mod version number to answer specific questions. Different files came with different mod versions. Difficult to provide support when this info is not provided.

  2. Not a good idea ;-)

  3. ALL template files need to be uploaded to your override template directory. Only in very rare occasion do you want to edit/customize/overwrite the core template files in template_default. Recommend reading about 'template overrides' in the Zen Cart FAQ. (YOUR_TEMPLATE = your custom template directory = template override directory).

Some random questions (maybe you have already answered but just double checking):

  1. Are you certain cURL is enabled on your account?

  2. I attempted accessing your website but it was not coming up for awhile (blank page). But coming up now.

  3. The Google Checkout button is missing from your login page. (see Google Checkout TOS).

4, When I click on Google Checkout button on your shopping cart page I observe a blank page with URL of https://sandbox.google.com/...
Note attempting to connect to sandbox via https (so check mod config and Sandbox Sellers account settings to ensure both are set to http.

  1. And response handler URL in both mod config and Google Checkout Sellers account Sandbox (Settings > Integration) should show http, not https.

  2. Are you certain you are using the "Sellers Sandbox" merchant ID & Key, and not the "Sellers Live Production" merchant ID & key in your mod sandbox configuration? And be sure there are no spaces before or after the key or ID.

  3. Can you post your shipping generator output which you pasted into the two merchant calculation arrays in /includes/payment/gogglecheckout.php

$this->mc_shipping_methods = array()
and
$this->mc_shipping_methods_names = array()

  1. no Woody i'm not sure. This is my first VPS and i am still green. is there a linux command to check for cURL? would "yum install cURL" work? i will look into this.

  2. Sorry i was messing around with BIND and Apache, its up now.

  3. I don't like how they require that it be on your login page so i removed it. I will put it back on to comply with the TOS. thanks for pointing that out.

  4. Strange, it works for me. I double checked both and they are indeed set to http.```

Re: Google Checkout module for ZC 1.3.x (beta)

Earlier this week I had a customer tell me that they went to google checkout to pay but there wasn't a place to add their credit card info.

Today I had another customer write this email.

guess I dont understand the "google checkout". Wanted to order the LF2 hummingbird feeder by droll yankees. Wanted to charge it to credit card.
Please advise. Thank you.

These may be Google/browser issues. I can't checkout with GC using Safari on my own site or anyone else's. I can't do GC administration using Safari either, it actually crashes the browser.

On a similar note, using Safari the "-or use-" is completely off the edge of the main window, over in the background color and the GC button hangs halfway off. I have the right column width set to 0px, using version 1.3.7 of Zen and GOOGLE CHECKOUT PLUGIN FOR ZEN CART v1.3RC2 - 04/16/2007. Any ideas how to fix that?

Kokonutmoma,

Do you have other browsers you can GC with?

I haven't tried Safari yet, my logs show that it just isn't used enough by my customers that I've had to worry about it.

I used ie7 and firefox on mine.

Re: Google Checkout module for ZC 1.3.x (beta)

I am running zen 1.3.7 with the latest GC checkout posted by Ropu and I am getting some strange behavior at the GC checkout page. I have USPS,UPS, and Fedex ground shipping modules installed. They work fine on regular checkout but on the GC page, in the drop down list to choose a shipping option. The Fedex shows at the top of the list for about 3 seconds, then disappears. Anyone else seen this behavior? Any suggestions or help from the Zen Gurus will be greatly appreciated.

Gunzanroses:

is there a linux command to check for cURL?

i have not pasted anything into my gogglecheckout.php

CURL has to be compiled into PHP.
To see if installed: Admin > Tools > Server/Version Info.

Regards to shipping configuration, appears you have not run the shipping configurator. See README in /googlecheckout/shipping_generator/

Which page? Login or Shopping Cart?
Maybe a URL so we can test?

I suggest reviewing the HTML source for the CSS and the table structures employed. Could be some code there is messing with your browser?

For instance the applied classes in example source snippet from the Zen Cart 1.37 shopping cart page:

<table border="0" width="98%" cellspacing="1" cellpadding ="1">
<tr><br>
<td align="right" valign="middle" class = "main">
 <B> - Or use - </B>
</td></tr>
</table>
<table  border="0" width="100%" class="table-1" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="1">
  <tr><td align="right" valign="middle" class = "main">
    <p><form method="POST" action="https://sandbox.google.com/checkout/cws/v2/Merchant/blah...blah/checkout" >
         <input type="hidden" name="cart" value="blah...blah">
     <input type="hidden" name="signature" value="blah...blah=">
	   <input type="image" name="Checkout" alt="Checkout"
            src="https://sandbox.google.com/checkout/buttons/checkout.gif?merchant_id=blah...blah9&w=180&h=46&style=white&variant=text&loc=en_US"height="46" width="180">
        </form>
    </p>
        </td></tr>

</table>
<xmp>
</xmp>

As you can see, oldskool (quick and dirty) tables were employed for formatting. This can be improved upon by applying CSS, where possible.

I suspect the provided button display code was for basic integration needs and it is expected each shopowner will customize the integration of the checkout button into their own shop layout.

You might want to save the snippet above as an HTML file (copy the GCO gif to server if needed) and play around with the CSS and table code, to see if you can improve the layout to ensure it functions in all the browsers you wish to support.

I do not understand the purpose of the empty extensible markup tags above.

Suggestion:

Test one shipping method at a time with Google Checkout.

That is, for each shipping method build your Google Checkout shipping arrays individually, one for USPS, one for USP, one for Fed Ex and test each individually (see code in includes/modules/payment/googlecheckout.php).

Easiest to build/generate your shipping arrays via the shipping configuration tool ropu created. See the README in /googlecheckout/shipping_generator/

Building the ship arrays can be a bit confusing at first, but after you have attempted the generation process a few times you will come to understand.

Beyond the info above I have no other knowledge regards to configuring third party shipping (a.k.a. shipping quotes or merchant calculations) with Google Checkout as I don't employ any of those services.

Good luck,
Woody

Thanks Woody for the quick reply and the suggestion, now the second issue. My site is hosted on Godaddy and when I point my browser at the page, I get a box asking for a user name and password for "google checkout basic authentication" It's not an admin password or the FTP access password or the actual Google user login. Any ideas ??? Thanks

Re: Google Checkout module for ZC 1.3.x (beta)

This is nuts,

I've now had 6 customers tell me that they are not presented with a google checkout form so that they can enter their credit card and pay.
One of the custoer is a Zenner!

I can't afford to use a payment gateway that doesn't allow my customers to pay so I'm turing it off.

Signed up with www.2checkout.com now, so hopefully I can get those customers back.

Ok, now I'm totally confused.

Another customer just made a successful purchase using google checkout just as I was about to turn it off.

:shocking:

Look for following references in the payment module configuration and in the reeadme.

.htaccess Basic Authentication Mode

.htaccess Basic Authentication Mode with PHP over CGI

If still not sure search this thread on "PHP over CGI" or "htaccess".

If still need assist report back.

Question:
Why was the mod put into production when not fully tested on a test server/sandbox?
