Internet Explorer 7 & Credit/Debit Cards

Have any of you had any issues with customers complaining about not being able to process credit cards or debit cards?

More and more frequently, we are getting emails from our customers saying that they cannot check out of our store. The typical behavior is around step 3 of the checkout process, when they are doing the final confirmation on the order. It just keeps taking them back to this page.

In all cases that these people have complained, they had the new IE 7. One guy reverted back to IE 6 and it worked fine.

I am using ZenCart 1.3.5.

Sure....the URL is http://www.MJMMagic.com

By the way, an email from a customer complaining about this said the following about the behavior:

"going from Step 2, entering my debit card number to Step 3 it gives me an error saying it can't open the checkout_confirmation.html page."

Re: Internet Explorer 7 & Credit/Debit Cards

This is really happening a LOT now. I have gotten at least four complaints today from different people who cannot checkout of our store. Other orders are going through fine, so it's not the shopping cart.

I am really beginning to think there is something goofy with IE 7. Can anyone else verify this, or have you heard of any issues?

I use FireFox (thank God) and gave up on IE a long time ago, but I may have to download it and see if I can reproduce the problem. I just wanted to see if anyone else was having this weird behavior happen to them, since this is happening too much for it to be a mere coincidence.

I am not sure if it would make a difference in this particular case ... but I would recommend upgrading to v1.3.6 for many other issues that do exist ...

And as upgrades often have the miracle effect of curing the common cold ... perhaps it will help resolve this issue as well ...

Re: Internet Explorer 7 & Credit/Debit Cards

Yes, that is something I have been meaning to do. The only thing that has prevented me from the jump is that things are extremely busy this time of season. Tons of orders are coming in, and not only is my time limited, but I don't want to mess something up and be down if I miss a step.

I was planning on waiting until January before the upgrade, but if things slow down, I can try to do it.

One thing I notice is that these people who are complaining EVENTUALLY get their order through. The guy who just complained ended up placing two orders after he complained about not being able to do it. But it's happening more and more, which is why I started this thread.

Jeff_Mash,
I dont have IE7 on my current machine. I will install it and test it and let you know if there is any problem with the zen-cart in general or is it just your cart

Zen Cart doesn't have a "checkout_confirmation.html" file ...

What payment module(s) are you using? Does your payment module have a post-back return URL it directs customers to, which could/should be configured differently ?

What mods do you have installed on your site?
Do you have a SEFU/SEO mod installed that's causing this?

Dr. Byte.....

We use the Linkpoint API with no return page specified. It looks like the error he gets is when moving from Step 2 to Step 3.

We use one of the SEFU mods (I think from Chemo, although I don't know for sure...it's been so long). So when you click from Step 2 to Step 3 during the checkout process, the URL is https://www.mjmmagic.com/store/checkout_payment.html

The complaint isn't that it NEVER works.....the complaint is that it takes several tries before it finally does. Almost like it's a network problem on the clients end. That was my first inclination, although I am getting this complaint from more and more random people, so it's hard to dismiss.

I am not trying to say it's anything Zen related at this point....I just didn't know if any other Zen users were getting weird behavior related to IE 7. If not, then I will have to assume that it's either the client's network connection, or something wrong with my server.

Re: Internet Explorer 7 & Credit/Debit Cards

Have you tried turning off the SEFU add-on for a couple days to see if there is a change on this?
