Quantity Discount by Category

Hello world,

I want to setup a quantity discount that is based by category? Let me explain

I have a category setup "Videos" and need to set the cart up so that if the customer buys any 4 products in the category (in this case virtual products and quantity is 1 for each) then total price should become $89.95 (discounted) for the the 4 videos (instead of the $135 that comes after addition).

I did see a similar posting by OregonBum vbmenu_register("postmenu_46722", true); about this, but without a reply. New to zencart and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Look at the quantity discount contribution, which has per category discounts.

Hey Thanks Scott! I downloaded your "Better Together" which is great, but its seems (from my understanding atleast) that i can use it only for 2 prods. So if user buys one video from category A, the second video can be discounted.

Can I use "Better Together" so that if three videos (any videos) from Category A are bought, only then all three videos will be discounted (or the third one can be super discounted! i dont care as long as the total of the three is smallerX)?

Can you perhaps suggest some other quantity discount contribution that would be able to do this if Better Together doesnt as yet?

ok, now i am going to sound like a total newbie...which i am...

I want to upload the unzipped file, and it says there are two files.

are these folders? do i open the folders to upload them?

i just don't understand what you mean by "contents of the folders" in your instructions page. evidently i am the only one, so please, bear with me.

what should the files be called that i am uploading might help me.

i tried to upload the folder... no good
i tried to upload the unzipped folder... no good
when i open the unzipped folder there is two things... includes and read me

open includes and there is languages and modules, both folders

when do i stop opening folders and what is it that i am supposed to upload?

i feel like such a dweeb, but i really need help. i have been working on this for over 6 hours and am ready to toss my whole computer out on the highway in front of a maniac speeding truck driver.

If it has taken you seven hours to get to this point, you should be hiring someone to do this for you.

This is the first website I have ever built, and frankly, 7 hours is not too bad, it is just frustrating from my point of view. I have done everything so far without any help whatsoever, and this is the last thing I need to do. I am in shock at your answer.

Would it have been so hard just to tell me how far to open the folders and what it is that I am supposed to upload? Evidently so.

Or maybe this is your way of saying you know entirely too much to help someone that wants to learn.

Do the math. Was this a good use of your time? Wouldn't you be better off building your business?

The time spent learning is a good investment. Everytime I want to change or do something to my store I will have to hire somebody if I can't do it.

7 hours from the time I found a webserver and bought my domain to this point is pretty good. That includes the research, finding a cart, installing it and making my first pages with links that work. I have even taken pictures, edited them and uploaded them to my gallery site.

I have never written any HTML or even attempted to make a webpage, so frankly I think I have done well.

Set up and site would have probably cost me well over $100 so I figure at this point I have been worth over $10/hour, not too bad for a novice.

Evidently I have asked this question in the wrong place and to the wrong person. I appreciated the program you wrote and your knowledge. I am sorry if I asked too much.

Just to clear things up...

I am fried.

Don't ever try to build a website from scratch in one fail swoop. Take breaks.

Also, when I was advised to hire somebody, it was VERY good advice.

There is a reason people go to school and take qualifying tests and spend hours and hours to become professionals. The amount of knowledge and know-how is overwhelming, and an amateur can't expect to know or find all the information needed.

Hiring somebody is a good solution and will ensure that your program is installed correctly.
