creating a coupon for a free item...

How would I create a coupon for a free item? I tried playing around with the product restrictions... I set the top category to deny and set the product to allow, but that didn't work...

Any ideas?

I'm using 1.3.6 and cannot upgrade now... please help

You should just be able to set the Top Category as deny and the Product as allow ...

Have you other settings?

Note: you cannot set a Discount Coupon for a Discount and Free shipping ...

I've tried that and it didn't work

WTF?!?!?! when I set the top category restriction (the only restriction set) to deny the coupon is applied!

i'm trying to do the same - buy product A and get a free gift - can this be done in ZenCart?

I've searched the forums, but haven't been able to find this answered - and in the coupon admin, i'm just seeing either a dollar amount or percentage off - not a place to get a free gift item...
