New Customer Gift Certificate Help!!

I wanted to enable to 10% discount coupon for a new customer. And it does but is also ghive a $10 coupon! I do NOT want this and can't find where it is coming from. The coupon I have clearaly says 10%.

Please help before I go broke.

OK, I figured it out. I just deleted the amount in Configuration > GV Coupons > New Sign Up Gift Voucher Amount.

I had put in 10% but it only read the 10 and gave $10.

I tried it again and it does give 10% coupon but I'm not sure where I clicked on that. :cry:

Discount Coupons and Gift Certificates are not the same thing ...

In the Welcome email, you can have one or the other or both ...

For Discount Coupons, you need to:

1 setup a Discount Coupon in the:
Gift Certificate/Coupons ... Coupon Admin

2 Set the Discount Coupon in the:
Configuration ... GV Coupons ...

New Signup Discount Coupon ID#
Select the coupon

And pick the Discount Coupon from the dropdown ...

If you were to want a Gift Certificate too, then you would set the amount in the same location of the Configuration ... GV Coupons ...

New Signup Gift Voucher Amount
Leave blank for none
Or enter an amount ie. 10 for $10.00

The ZC Book (pg 317) doesn't mention if you enter a value, ie. 10, for the Gift Cert. that you'll get the Discount Amount plus a Gift Cert for the amount specified.
I'll assume that if the New Signup Gift Cert amount is left blank but I have selected a Discount Coupon in the drop-down box, the new user will receive the Discount Coupon for what every discount I have established for new registrations...
I realize this isn't complicated, but some things need a little clarification. Unfortunately, I didn't see this overlap explanation between Discount Coupons & Gift Certs in the new ZC book...
