MultiSite Module Support Thread

I would like that from mysite i can see the products and categories of shop1.mysite and shop2.mysite . Did i do right of installing 3 times zencart or i should just having to make 3 templates?
I want that shop1 shop2 can be changed by my site and not the opposite but as well shop1 and shop2 being independent.

Then in the home page now it is written:
You can quickly edit this content via Admin->Tools->Define Pages Editor, and select define_main_page from the pulldown.

But it doesn't work !

Hoping that someone can help me.
Kindest Thanks

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

Actually, you don't need to install it on multiple locations.

Here's what you have to do:
-delete all files from shop1.mysite and shop2.mysite
-configure your shop1 and shop2 subdomain directory root to be https://www.yoursite.com
-under https://www.yoursite.com you will need to have 3 templates folder, each for every site (lets name them site1, site2, site3)
After you do this, try following the instruction regarding config files under config_sites folder... It's not as complicated as it looks at first.

The define pages editor will work on your main template. You'll need to create overrides manually for other templates.

Thanks , but if I do that I will have one admin.
I would like to have a different admin for each shop and just one that can manage all of them.

Do you think that it is possible?

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

I'm not sure, but I think it's not possible.
As far as i understood the multisite module, it gives you multiple frontends with a single backend. And nothing more...

Maybe I'm wrong, hope someone else gives you the info you want.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

I have a client that is running two "toner/ink" sites - the only difference was supposed to be - quite literally - the design of the store front.

However, now they want to have different SKU#s for each store (same products - just different #s) AND MAYBE have a different payment processing portal - still using Authorize.net.

Is there an easy way to do this, or do we need to set up a whole new store from scratch?

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

Hello

If I run multiple stores for example 3 on the same zen-cart engine:

  1. aDOTcom
  2. bDOTcom
  3. cDOTcom
And a customer places an order from website 3 will confirmation come to him/her with email …@cDOTcom or aDOTcom? Basically, I need to make sure that all instances running on the same engine look as they are three completely different stores. Will this module work?

Thanks,
TheGuest

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

It will come from a mail address. It doesn't matter which domain it is on. You'll have to define different e-mail addresses in your config_sites for each shop. But, the email template is always the same... :( Also, you will have to define e-mail logos for each site and this is something i don't know how to do...

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

As long as the module and config site files are setup correctly.. The customer will not know it is the same shop.. You can even have 3 merchant accounts and use differant forms of shipping for each store.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

Hi,

Just quickly want to double check with you. I downloaded this module. Is it really easy to have it installed? I have a modified template and core files so I’ll have to go with manual modifications. I just want to get a sense of what I am getting myself into.

Thanks,
TheGuest

Forgot to mention I am hosting it on bluehost. Any problems with it?

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

I love the module and use it often. I have used it on VERY heavily modified carts. The documentation is horrible and the only support are a few of us that hang around here.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

Yes but not really a good explanation of what has to be done. Step 4 is what seems to give everyone the most trouble.

Read back over this thread BEFORE you start (I know there are allot of pages) and it may save you allot of aggravation later.

Thanks for the input. Can you give me heads up which are the most important things to look at?

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

Being the original author seems to have abandoned this wonderful module. I expect to have a little time during the holidays and am going to try and create a bit more detailed set of install docs (STEP BY STEP) I intend to do the install on a clean Zen Cart and include the config site files with all default possible overrides.

If anyone has any additional suggestions please let me know.

P.S. My time is usually very limited and that is about as far as I can go with this. I try and pop in time to time and help as much as I can but it would be great if the original author or some other interested party would take over this mod.

A suggestion would be to set up a demo were you can see the multi sites interacting together.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

Sorry to reask but. What are the main things to be aware of?
As I see the following needs to be done:

  1. Alter db tables
  2. Add new files
  3. Change existing files. There are about 30 places where this needs to be done. Is it fairly east process?

How many of you had big problems after installing the mod?

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

As stated... The main things to watch for are that the docs are horrible.. There is little to no instruction on how to create the config files properly. That is what messes up most people. Read the threads and most of your questions will be answered.

If you come up with another problem during install you can post and someone should be able to help you.

Too many possibilities to cover in your case especially since you are doing edits to already modded files.

Many times the expected code is no longer present in a file that has already be edited by other mods. This could make it difficult to know what should be changed.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

OK. I started messing around and added new files without modification of any yet. As soon as I added new files the site looks different - looks like new template has been picked up. How do I configure to have my template to be used?

Thanks.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

it looks like init_templates.php file is responsible for this. However, I dont understand why it had to change if I simply added new files.
