Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

You've missed something when installing the multisite module. Go over the entire installation again and i'm sure you'll find what you've skipped. But, go over it MANUALLY, line by line as it says in the instructions included with the module.
Perhaps you installed some other addon after installing Multisite? That might be a problem, you know... But, go over the installation and you'll fix it for sure.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

Hi,

I have problems with showing subcategories on category page in some cases.
On other forums someone said me to post the problem here because I don 't find the solution.
The problem could be the multi site module that I 'm using.

**1)**I have seen other forums and check all the settings for the admin.
**2)**I use multisite module and I checked sites' relations
**3)**I don't see this kind of this code in the source of the category page <!-- hsyong remove categories thumbnails --> (in other forums this was a problem)

-You can see following this link that I can't see the subcategories
http://okidoqui.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=81

-Or here as well http://okidoqui.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=73

-BUT here the subsubcategories are displayed http://okidoqui.com/index.php?main_p...x&cPath=73_102

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

On the first link in your post, I do see one sub-category. A sub-category will not appear if it and EVERY parent category is not also defined as part of a site (defined in admin > tools > multisite tools > relations). So if you have a category with 3 sub-levels, each level must be defined as being a part of the site you want it to appear in. I suppose also, in admin there is a setting to not show categories that have no products? (config > layout settings)

  1. First link show 2 products and not any subcategory
  2. Multi site relations are fine I did check them
  3. All the links should show subategories that have products

Any other suggestions?

Any other suggestions?

1.) First link show 2 products, one sub-category (Perfume and Cologne)

2.) Second link shows numerous sub-categories. Clothing has subs of Jackets, jeans, shirts etc

3.) Point 3 in your original question contains similar code used in the multisite module used to define the categories for each site. Maybe its placement for the other module its used for is interfering with the multisite module, which also uses a HTML comment to distinguish categories?

The issue is showing sub categories in the category page. Not just in the sidebox.

  1. It shows 1 sub on the side box and 2 products on the category page
  2. It shows a lot of categories nut only in the Sidebox.
  3. I will check it but this is not for sure the problem because I don't see it in the source page, I will double check and post later

Look forward to your response

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

Yes, that's the idea of this module. But you will no longer need multiple installations, just one zencart, one admin... And you can make it completely different - use different templates, have different categories, use different modules etc. For a frontend user, these will be completely different sites, BUT once a user creates account on one site, that account exists on all other sites. So, if register at site1, you can use your login and pass at site2 and you will have your order history from both site1 and site2. Depending on what you want to achieve, this can be an advantage or a disadvantage. But, as I've already said, I believe your customers MUST know that they are dealing with the same person/company, only different sites.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

Thanks balihr.... just one more thing... this module works with version 1.3.8 and 1.3.9 too, right? Because at this link "http://www.medea.co.uk/dev/", it says Designed for :Zen Cart v1.371.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

I think it should work with 1.3.9, but i haven't tried yet...

I have a site that uses multisite, feel free to visit it. I'll send you a PM with the link and details (i don't want google to see it here...). It's an abandoned project so feel free to do whatever you want, complete your orders etc.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

Yes because i didn't allow cross cart - my shop1's shipping modules are different than shop2's. So, I didn't allow cross cart because then i couldn't control shipping modules that easy.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

Gerome:

  • Same currency.
  • Multisite is not compatible with multi languages but will be in the next version (released tomorrow)
  • I think that different taxes should be compatible but I never tried to be honest.
  • You can use different shipping modules for each site
  • You can use different payment module for each site
  • You can change anything that is in the configuration section of the admin section (including the company information).

If by "business rule" you mean payment methods, tax/shipping, currency and company information, I would say that

About the new version:

  • it will also allow to desactivate the cat_filter for some sites (and then allow all the categories to be display).
It will also allow to specify a different CATEGORIES_ROOT.

Hi guys,
Gerome and one or two others have mentioned that you can use a different payment module for each site, which makes sense for independent stores. I'm just not sure how to set that up. Do I just create a folder with my template name in /includes/languages/english/modules/payment and edit the settings. I know the Modules > Payment admin interface will allow you to adjust settings, but I am guessing that has to be done by manually editing the files for each template. Any tips or advice on how to manage this would be greatly appreciated.
