Can I send a coupon only when a particular product is purchased?

Hi,

I can't find this on in The Book. And not here in the forum either.

I want to sell my paper catalog to potential wholesale customers, to fend off people who apparently do nothing but collect catalogs. (They're out there, believe me.) But I want these customers to get a rebate for the value of the catalog. So if a new account orders a catalog (which comes with some sample cards and a price sheet and all that sort of good stuff) for $10, they get a coupon worth $10 to use on any future order they place. But if someone orders anything other than the catalog, they don't get that coupon.

Is it possible to set that up? Maybe using a contribution?

If I order ONLY a catalog I do get a coupon?

If I order a catalog AND something I do NOT get a coupon?

Is that the premise here on these coupons?

Re: Can I send a coupon only when a particular product is purchased?

Hi Linda,

Because of the nature of the business, I'd expect most people ordering a catalog to order just that. But that's not a requirement. If they order a catalog with or without any other product they get the coupon. The coupon is intended to offset the cost of the catalog.

However, I've since realized there's a flaw in my idea. We have a minimum order requirement on the wholesale site of $100. So no one could order a catalog by itself anyway. [sigh] Unless the catalog could side-step the min. order issue? Hmmmm?

Maybe just keep this in mind for a future upgrade. I think it would be handy to be able to attach a coupon to a particular product, for any number of reasons.

If you'd like to move this into the feature request section of the forum, that's fine by me.

All of this could be done ... but it would take some customization to get it all working ...
