Coupon discount not posting at check out.

Hi,

I'm a Zen Cart newbie on the fast-learning track. I've searched the forum and have not been able to find the answer to this question. Just refer me to the link if it is in here somewhere...

I've created a coupon code to be used for tracking, people who buy my service via a particular referral. (i.e. I'm sending my promo to a friend. She is forwarding it to her list with the announcement, "Use this coupon code and get $50 off!") This way, everyone who signs up from her list, I can track and pay her a commission.

When I run a test purchase with the coupon, I get "Congratulations, you've successfully redeemed your coupon!" in the check out process. BUT the $50 never gets discounted when the buyer completes the purchase. I've tried this twice. No luck.

How do I get the discount to post in the check out process, so that the total price is reduced by the discount amount?

How do you have the Discount Coupon configured?

I configured my coupon as follows:

Went to Gift Certificates/Coupons>Coupon Admin>
Coupon Code: XYZ
Coupon Name :: Jane Doe Referral
Coupon Amount :: $50.00
Start Date :: 05/30/2007
End Date :: 06/21/2007
Uses per Coupon :: 1
Uses per Customer :: 1
Valid Product List :: NONE
Valid Categories List :: NONE
Date Created :: 06/01/2007
Date Modified :: 06/01/2007

Coupon Zone Restriction: :: 0

This is the only module I've used in the coupon process. Are there any other aspects that need to configured to get the calculation happening? I read some of the other threads and see that the coupon amount was a % discount. I'm wondering if the flat dollar amount might be part of the problem?

This says exactly 1 person will be able to use this coupon 1 time ...

Uses per Coupon :: 1
Uses per Customer :: 1

For many people to use this coupon 1 time you need this to be:

Uses per Coupon :: 0 (note: 0 is unlimited)
Uses per Customer :: 1

Now each person with the code can use it once ...

Hi Ajeh,

Still no luck. I changed to configuration as you recommended and ran a test charge. In step 3 (order confirmation) I still get the "Congratulations, you have redeemd your discount coupon!" but no discount is calculated off of the normal price. It shows the regular price of $97.00, free shipping $0, and total $97.00.

Any other suggestions?

If you could PM me the Discount Coupon code I can look at this a bit more ...

NOTE: make sure that this coupon is not set to Free Shipping ...

Coupons can only be one (1) of the following:

1 Amount Off

2 Percentage Off

3 Free Shipping

You are most welcome ... thanks for posting back that the problem was you were using 2 settings on the Discount Coupon when you can only use 1 ... :smile:
