Gift Certificates: manual

We are looking to attend a few festivals this summer and at our stand, we'd like to offer gift certificates (we will purchase a standard gc cards from an office store) to our potential customers. Since they will not be purchasing the gift certificate online, is it possible for me to create a 'manual' gift certificate with its own gift certificate number (i.e. Fes-9000 rather than a cart generated #) that can be redeemed via online purchase? What would be a recommended way of handling this type of transaction?

Thanks much!

Re: Gift Certificates: manual

Sure you can. Just create a gift certificate in your Zen-Cart with the numbers you want, but you wouldn't really want them to be in succession, as that might be too easy for people to guess....eg: FES-9000 to FES-9999.

It might be a little harder, but you would actually be better off to create these coupons, let Zen-Cart generate the numbers (for security reasons), then print the coupons yourself on plain index cards. This would be cheaper, and you could control the numbers that are printed on each one........just a thought.
