performance boost using amazon s3 / aws

Has anyone considered distributing zencart data and images using amazon s3 and amazon webservices ..... would allow our sites to be as fast as any of the big guys out there .... http://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.html?node=16427261

Interesting. But I dont think you need that yet unless you have lots of users everyday. I'm on a VPS server now and it's just as fast as Amazon's (since i dont have that many users anyway)

Its about to start getting important as we start to deliver video clips etc
Im our line of work .... cookware etc ...https://www.scanpancookware.com, I feel that there is more and more demand for highly interactive product data. Even using comprssed images from image handler we see lag ..... im not saying now , but shortly it will become important... when clients grow to expect subsecond page transitions we folks with hosted zencarts will suffer ... i think

Images and content served inline from other servers are often treated as ads by popup-blocking, privacy-protection and other firewall services running on customers' computers.

It'd be wise to consider the impact of your images not showing at all when they come from external locations, vs perhaps a slight loading delay from self-hosted images.
