Gift Card Expiry

We like the idea of being able to drop $10 credit into the new sign up accounts.

However, we would like the ability to set it to that the credit needs to be used within 30 days, or it goes away.

Could such a feature be added in the future?

Discount Coupon ...
$10.00 Off any Product
Good for 30 days ...
1 user per customer
1 use per coupon (or unlimited for that given day of customers)

Hardest part about this is to generate the Discount Coupon fresh each day ...

Not necessarily hard, but it does need to be made ...

I would think up a pattern of what would work for you on either a generic coupon code, or a specific pattern to it ...

Gift Certificates or Vouchers are CASH ... cash does not expire ... :smile:

Like you said, doing it as a Coupon would require creating a new coupon every day and setting it as the New Sign Up coupon every day. That is a lot of maintaining to do, hence the request for a sign-up discount/voucher/whatever that can be set to expire in a given number of days (rather than on a set date), kinda like how downloads can expire after a given number of days.

At the moment there isn't a simple way to do this that is built into Zen Cart ...

We will have to look into a method for tracking Discount Coupons based on a release date and a number of days until it expires ...

I have a feeling it will run into the same type of situation and the 365 Discount Coupons may be the solution ... now to figure out how to manage that in a nice neat easy to display sort of manner ... :unsure:

Ideally, we would prefer to give them the equivalent of a GV for $10 (or whatever amount), and have that have an expiry date.

But that is just us. :D heh
