My son needs help Newbi

Hi all

Hope everyone had a good new year..
I have just downloaded the Zen v1.3 for my son to get a small decals business going and having problems.
Im a novice when it comes to this type of thing but i was sent to this program by a internet forum,

It all downloaded ok apart from there was a couple of files that were empty.
In the downloads there are a few empty files Zip files.
Also all the Htpacces file are empty,
Is this correct.

I have changed the file names /includes/configure.php and/or /admin/includes/configure.php file as stated in the instalation guid.

but dont know how to change the permisions.
to 777 looked in all the files that i need to change but cant find anything like what im looking for .

Now when i try to got to the home page in the search i get a message

Hello. Thank you for loading Zen Cart™.
You are seeing this page for one or more reasons:
This is your first time using Zen Cart™ and you haven't yet completed the normal Installation procedure.
If this is the case for you, Click here to begin installation.

Your /includes/configure.php and/or /admin/includes/configure.php file contains invalid path information and/or invalid database-connection information.
If you recently edited your configure.php files for any reason, or maybe moved your site to a different folder or different server, then you'll need to review and update all your settings to the correct values for your server.
See the Online FAQ and Tutorials area on the Zen Cart™ website for assistance.

To begin installation ...
The Installation Documentation can be read by clicking here: Documentation
Run zc_install/index.php via your browser.
The Online FAQ and Tutorials area on the Zen Cart™ website will also be of value if you run into difficulties.

Then when i click the blue click here link i get another message saying

**Internal Server Error**The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [no address given] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Please can you advice me on what im doing wrong ..

My son is not happey with me LOL

What type of hosting manager do you have? cPanel or?

What are you using for a FTP client?

Re: My son needs help Newbi

I think the FTP that came with the free site was incapable of properly uploading all the files in Zen Cart (there are a lot). That would explain empty folders etc.

Fantastico is not generally recommended for installing Zen Cart either; it often has an outdated version available. What version did you get when you ran Fantastico? (look in admin for Version - it should be v1.3.8a).
