Installing Zen to replace CRE Pro Loaded

Hello, I am an extreme newbie even though I have been dealing with "shopping carts" for almost a year now, so please bare with me if my technological terms are not correct.

I am currently using CRE for my site, and I now have a fully functional Zen Cart on my server as well. The designer I have to move the Zen to the main store has a bit more on his plate than he can handle at this time, so I need to try to get this done myself as soon as possible.

I have no clue what I need to do and I don't know where to begin other than BACKING UP THE STORE. I don't even know where to begin on this, so I am hoping some of you EXTREMELY experienced Zen Cart Guru's can give me some pointers.

My main domain that I want to move Zen into is the **Knot & Bauble Shoppe** and Zen is currently at **Knot & Bauble Shoppe2** Just incase you might need that information.

Now before you tell me to buy the book and read it, let me assure you that I have -twice. I bought the electronic version and the actual hard copy book. But my thought is it would almost be easier to install on a fresh, clean server than to understand all that is entailed in replacing another store, so if there is someone out there that is truly capable and experienced in doing this that can provide me some not too horribly technological instructions, I would be forever, extremely grateful.

In other words I am DESPERATE for help here.:blush:

No one has any information that can help me with this? I find that a bit hard to believe after reading tons of help to and from others in this forum section alone.

Look at the FAQs for "moving Zen Cart to a different folder" and similar phrases.

It is a very simple process. Assuming both are on the same server, you just move all the files to the desired folder and rename the filepaths in /includes/configure.php and /admin/includes/configure.php to reflect the new location.

As your site address indicates you have ZC installed in a subfolder, you would just follow the steps for "moving a site to the root".

You would first want to move the current root cart to a subfolder or otherwise archive it, so the root is essentially empty.

If you still have problems and were already paying someone to help you you might want to go to the "classifieds" section of this forum and find a Zen Cart consultant. Doesn't soulnd like a big job.

I don't see where setting up a new install of Zen Cart would be a problem.

The problem I see is how to incorporate the CRE database into Zen Cart, presuming that needs to be done as well.
