A Small Challenge to ALL Zenners

Hello,
Today as I weas listning to the radio our local station was doing their yearly radiothon,
and it hit me like a ton that we ALL need to chip in to help the kids at St Jude Childrens Hospital.
For those that dont know what St Jude is, it is a hospital dedicated to Caring for Sick Children, Their Motto is Finding Cures and Saving Children.
These folks care for children no matter the cost or the familys ability to pay.
they truely care.

and rather than me preaching ( yea I know what your thinking Merlin Preaching yea right... LOL ) take a look here
http://www.stjude.org

As a Company we promised to Donate $25 a month, ( I know thats not a lot but it will grow as we do ) and I challenge ALL Zen Cart users, and Developers to Match our Donation,

Lets give these guys a fighting Chance......

The link below is to for the station we were listning to today when we made our Pledge so I have included the link that has an 800 Number.
you can also go to the St Jude website Directly....

These Kids are our Future, lets see that they have one.

I applaud your efforts and support of this particular cause Merlin, but from a personal point of view, St Jude's wouldn't be at the top of my list of causes to support. That isn't because I don't believe they do a fantastic job or that they don't deserve support, it's because I prefer to support charities and organisations that are local to me and that provide services to people in my area.

I happen to donate a monthly amount to our local childrens hospice that looks after kids who are terminally ill. They are no more and no less deserving than St Judes and like St Judes they make a huge difference to childrens lives, so I'm afraid your attempts at emotional blackmail with statements like 'wonder how many of you wouldnt hesitate to go to St Jude if your child was sick' do not make me feel guilty or give me good enough reason to switch my charitable donations from our local childrens hospice to St Judes.

I wish you luck with your attempts to encourage people to donate to a cause that is evidently close to your heart, but I suspect your approach may deter more people than it encourages.

Arkie...

Re: A Small Challenge to ALL Zenners

Hi Merlin,

I wish I could say I could afford the challenge and pitch in, but unfortunately I can't at this time. However, with your approval of adding to the challenge, I will offer free banner ad on my website to for the next year, to any user that accepts the challenge.

I will place the banner in a side box as all my others. And if you place a link to St Judes on your website I will place a 468X60 banner on TOP of my homepage. You must create and supply all banner images to be used.

Let's work together and help these families out!

Re: A Small Challenge to ALL Zenners

OK Merlin,
I just donated. I think it is a great challenge you threw out. As the parent of a child that has had a lifetime of doctors visits and hospitalizations because of a heart condition, I didn't hesitate. Funny, I was just thinking today how I go about getting a link to the American Heart Association on my site. Thanks for letting me be a part of your challenge.

Re: A Small Challenge to ALL Zenners

St. Jude's is a wonderful charity. There are lots of good ones out there and all of them need as much support as possible. My mother gives to St. Jude's regularly. I've sort of adopted the USO as my charity, although I also give to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) because I have a friend with a young daughter who's diabetic.

I don't think Merlin had any intention of belittling any charity, but some folks need a push in the right direction.

St. Jude's claims they have banners and such to link to them, but there doesn't seem to be a link to the "link to us" information.
