Second Life

I've recently joined Second Life and am looking for an opportunity to build a "store" there that will link back to my online store. Have any of you successfully gotten a business going on Second Life?

I know no one responded (and I'm not offended, lol) but 23 of you did look at this thread so I've got a question just in case you ARE a Second Life user...

My computer keeps crashing when I'm in Second Life. I can have a ton of other applications open on my computer and not have any problems, but just having Second Life open sometimes makes it crash (turn itself off.) When I turn my computer on the Desktop Recovery screen is up. Any clue? Norton and Spybot are coming up clean.

Second Life sounds interesting, but the last thing I need is another addiction... this is my second life these days ;)

Oh trust me, it's totally addictive. For developers out there though, Second Life has it's own Classifieds network with people looking for developers to help them build their Second Life the way they want it. More and more real life (RL) businesses are beginning to use Second Life (SL) as a way for customers to test out the products before buying them. I first found out about SL from an Entrepreneur Magazine article. I LOVE that magazine, however it gets me into more trouble. :smile:

My wife tried second life.... it was totally boring unless you are into going to girly bars or walking around streets, buildings and other things with no one around. Real life beats second life.

I too, used to follow Entrepreneur Magazine in the late 70's and also found that it can be somewhat addictive. Not so with Second Life as I think it is an interesting experiment, which is how most Real Life Businesses are treating it, but wonder if they are still having their Legal problems.

I recall reading how some people were upset about having to pay Real money for Virtual land, space, whatever, then Second Life not allowing transfer of Ownership; claiming they owned it no matter who paid for it.

I did visit once and can see how it would put a strain on most any computer. Lotta resources needed to run that VRML stuff and most people are not prepared for it.
