Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

I am new to Zencart and i am coming from OSC. Not to sure if this is the right place to post this.

I am using cherry template and easy populate. I have 4 product descriptions.
Ex. v_products_description_1,v_products_description_2.

Fields are uploading; easypopulate is working great.

I can't seem to figure out how to display product descriptions 2 through 4.

I don't know which php file to go into to define v_products_description_2,3,4 and then how to display them.

I want them in the same box as description 1. Each product description underneath each other.

Hope this helps little more.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

I am working on a test site and I can't upload my products right.

I exported from another shop then uploaded in my test shop. Categories get created, both levels.

Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 page at the bottom shows all products that have been uploaded, no errors but if I check in my store, only the categories are there but no products.

Now I go in admin- catalog- categories/products

I look at the new created category and see 17 of 17 active on the right, I click to go into the category and there is nothing there ether.

fix_cache_key and reset master id, cleared imagehandler cache.... what else?

I uploaded the same file one more time and Easy Populate shows:
Upload Results

File uploaded.
Temporary filename: /tmp/phpYI6geD
User filename: Full-EP2008May08-1111.txt
Size: 33656

UPDATED! - Model: WXPT0055 | FIGS-AND-M | Figs and M | This Figs | | | | | 19 | 2 | | 03/11/08 1 | 1 | | Wax Potter | Wax Potter | | | | | | Taxable Go | 1 |

and so on for all products. It shows UPDATED, meaning there were products to be updated? Where are they? Any idea?

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Hi All

My webhost "Upgraded" cPanel (Linux/Apache etc server) and reset everything to default. It's taken us days to work through settings and get everything running again. [And, yes, we're moving hosts. He has been no help at all with this]

The first symptom was that our shopping carts couldn't access the mySQL database: we came in one morning to find all sites down and SQL errors everywhere. Our stores did not have permission to run scripts: there were no permissions set. After that we ran into more permissions probs, more sql errors, file size upload limits, email errors, and more.

Now everything is OK, but EZ Pop can not upload. We also have 1 X-Cart and 1 custom X-Cart-based custom site. None of our sites can take an upload.

This an EZ Pop err:
Warning: file(/home/xxx/public_html/temp/xxxx.txt) [function.file]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/xxx/public_html/admin/easypopulate.php on line 1201

X-Cart gives this error:
MyStore error on upload: The path you have specified is wrong or you have not access to write to the specified path.

There is some permission prob I guess. Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I wondered if anyone would know what cPanel setting is restricting our access. Everything worked fine before.

TIA

If you have ftp access, try to go in and chmod777 on your /temp directory. You can also do that manually through cPanel using the file manager option. Hope that works for you!

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

I am still having troubles uploading my products. I tried and installed all the ep files one more time and sql as well... just to be sure.

Now I have:

Warning: explode() [function.explode]: Empty delimiter in /home/mydanilo/public_html/artwax/ws/admin/includes/functions/extra_functions/easypopulate_functions.php on line 241

when I upload the file. Still looks like all info has updated, uploaded if I look at the llisting in admin. Categories were imported but no products. Can't get them to upload.

Thanks awhfy, but the dir permissions have not changed. All are the same as before so there's something else going on. Even when I FTP the file to the server and then run EZ Pop it doesn't work.

I was able to successfully import a small file with 88 products, but I usually import 10,000-40,000 at a time. And I can't very well do 400 imports of 100 each, so a solution to this problem is crucial.

Is there some cPanel setting that could restrict the number of records being updated or something? An itty bitty file works, but no luck with the file sizes that I normally do.

Thanks

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Hi,

I never build a site before this. Not like this, I used yahoo website builder.

Im working on getting EP installed, keep getting error message as follows

"Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'includes/application_top.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php') in /homepages/40/d244245786/htdocs/Jobberonline/adminep/easypopulate.php on line 105"

I have moved the admin and temp file to every place on the totem pole, and made the temp folder permissions 777. Still same error. Deleter all files and began fresh, no good.

And help would be appreciated.

Thx in advance.

John

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

I still don't succeed with importing products. I tried the same import on one of my other stores and the file imports just fine. So something is wrong on my current site. I suspect my db has a problem. How would I remove ep from the db? I want to try to uninstall and then reinstall the mod. Any help?

I have a strange thing, under Configuration - Easy Populate

actually I have 2x Easy Populate listed. Not right... just checked again, 3x.

How do I get rid of this thing and start from scratch? I want to have this mod working as I plan to import way more stuff down the road.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Great mod!

I am having one problem with it. When I make my database to upload everything is correct. But some were after uploading the file the data gets changed. All Zeros get changed to Ones.

As we are a liquor store, we have liters at 1.0 and 1800 Tequila gets changed to 1.1 liters and 1811 Tequila. Even the prices change.

I have checked everything and have even re-uploaded with a new datafile.

If you have any ideas it would be much appreciated.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

**New Post: Attribute File has Mismatched Headers and Data
**
It was because EPA version 3.03 promised:
"Bugfix: attributes export file header names corrected - caused broken attributes upload."
that I paid for the Advanced version of EP. However, it does not seem to have helped (see below.) The attribute headers are still wrong. the headers are picking up option names/values that have been deleted from the db while the actual data is ok, i think.

I AM DEAD IN THE WATER WITHOUT THIS. my site depends on pricing by attributes so I really, really, really need help!

I copied one piece of the txt file and transposed it to show the mismatch:

**v_attribute_options_id_20 21
**v_attribute_options_name_20_en Select Print Size:
v_attribute_values_id_20_1 66
v_attribute_values_price_20_1
v_attribute_values_name_20_1_en 4" x 6"
v_attribute_values_id_20_2 67
v_attribute_values_price_20_2
v_attribute_values_name_20_2_en 5" x 7"
v_attribute_values_id_20_3 68
v_attribute_values_price_20_3
v_attribute_values_name_20_3_en 8" x 10"

See how the option id =20 but the value of the id is =21? I deleted option id#20 in the db but the data is correct for id#21.

Please help! I have posted this to the zencart builder forum, i have sent a ticket [YZN-54237-446] to Nicholas with no reply and I have searched all messages and k-bases to no avail. TO whomever can help, THank you, thank you, thank you!

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Hi

using EP 1.2.5.4. for first time. I have downloaded the COMPLETE txt file of the using EP so that I can see the structure in order to upload a some products. each product has a sample of music.
Is there a way of extending the file structure to upload the sample (in the same way I make reference to the image, I want to make reference to the mp3 file)

Thanks

John

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

langer:

you cannot use an arbitrary file type or format. It must be a tab delimited file, and in the format Easy Populate requires. For more information, read the readme.txt file.

Hi, I have edited and created a tab delimited text file with a spread sheet.
I pulled the original file via easy update, I get a succesful update, but still the products do not show. is there something I am doing stupid with a path name or file name? is there a default file name that I should be uploading?
my temp directory is in my store directory...laughinghorsephotos.com/catalog/temp where catalog is the zen cart directory. I have read the readme and the install text files and I am at a loss.

here is the process as I did it in sequence:

  1. pulled down the file
  2. Opened the file with MSWOrks spreadsheet.
  3. edited the file to ripple/fill data.
  4. saved the file in tab delimited text file form (at least that is what Works
    claims it's doing)
  5. Uploaded the file via zencart/tools/easypopulate
  6. upload shows as successful, products do not show. only 30 products that were entered manually show.

got a feeling I have missed something really simple here.
any ideas?

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

I just installed Easy Populate v1.2.5.4 today, and it looks like I got that right.
No file permissions set yet, so if there are some I have to look out for, please let me know.
I was able to get a copy of my merchandise data onto my local drive and view it with Open Office.
But when I attempted to make a small test of 3 items to upload, no luck . I keep getting the error:
Warning: explode(): Empty delimiter. in
Where did I go wrong here?

Easy Populate MUST have UNIQUE model number for EVERY product,
OR it will not work.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

I have Easy Populate 1.2.5.5 configured, installed and working in my cart. I would like to add a category (products_condition) to my uploads so it will update my database and display on the individual product pages. I have the field added to my database and I have zen cart configured for the extra field. What would I need to add or change in the admin/easypopulate.php file to get the new category to be recognized and to upload to the database? Also, are there other easy populate files that I need to change to make this work?

I would appreciate any help or direction someone may be able to give.

Thanks,
Brad.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

heavenlynights:

I am also having an issue importing the attributes.txt file into excel. too many columns. does anyone have a resolution for this problem.
TIA

I'm a wiz at forcing Excel to behave, so if the tips below don't work feel free to IM me if you're stuck.

It's probably the way you are importing. During the Data import choose "Delimited" instead of fixed-width and on the next tab select "Tab" as your delimiter and de-select all others. If you have tab AND comma or something like that it will be too many cols, but just tabs should come in fine.

if you're trying to get a difficult file to convert in Excel, sometimes this works:

  1. open the file in winword (or ultraedit or some other good text editor)
  2. edit/replace tab (^t in winword) with ~ or % or $ or some char that isn't in your data file. Don't use the winldcards (* or ?)
  3. save the file. Open it in excel. During the convert choose the char you replaced the tabs with as your delimiter.
