Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/public_html/admin/easypopulate.php on line 1301

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

ebaobao: EPA is commercial product really you should ask your question on the authors forum as EPA will be written differently to EP 1.2.5.4. As I understand that it is not a open source module.

overmyhead: How many products have you ? The thing with hosting if you buy a shared hosting package there may be 2000 other sites on that server, and you will only be allowed x amount of memory/ram if other sites are v busy they will take the power at the expence of yours.

ORIKO : This may be a permission error, is your temp folder permission set currently ?
Reading your error you are receiving it is not seeing this file ? Also check your files, have you been altering any files ?

No such file or directory

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Hello Scrat Thanks for responding!
I am on a dedicated server. Had over 2,000 products building to just over 8,000. Too many? I changed the php.ini (max_input_time = 120) I can upload now, but there is no report - goes to page cannot display. Makes it difficult to say the least to not be able to see the upload report and details.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

overmyhead this is a know issue with EP 1.2.5.4, if you have over x number of products it will not report, but should still update / import / delete products. I am sure if you do a test on a product you will see it still works but just not reports. If you search in this thread it has been a issue for others.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Dear Scratt

I am not altering any file of EP yet, just installed and trying to upload 40K items but splitting is not giving me good results.
Last night, I did upload for a few items, it worked OK.
So, I guess problem is item quantity.
Splitting default quantity is 300 and I changed to 1000 but in vain.
Pls help.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

ORIKO : EP only really works well with approx. 300 products at a time this is probably your problem, trying to upload too many products at once. Does it work OK with 300 products at once ?

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Hello Scrat,
Thank you for the information. I just wasn't using the correct search terms for the thread.

Oriko, Scrat is right, EP works best with smaller number of products in the file. I split mine manually. Just be sure to keep the header (top line) into each file and keep the same format (text - tab delimited).

Thank you for being so helpful Scrat :D

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

SCRAT and OVERMYHEAD,

My solution is to upload txt file in temp dir and just insert to db.
I had to upload 5 - 6 big size files and fist 3-4 was OK, but last 2 i failed to get a success page. however, site is completely uploaded status, server was working perfect. biggest size is 6MB but anyway uploaded.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Beginner here.
Have uploaded my data to database and yeah it worked.
In the Wiki instructions it says you can only load one photo but then later on it talks about multiple photos.

So can it load multiple photos and what is the symbol to put between the photos when entering them into the .txt file.
TIA
Mona

Hi Mona,

Just upload the 1st and call it something like myphoto.jpg, then name the other images myphoto_1, myphoto_2, etc. You do not name them in the tab delimited text file as the software will associate them as additional images as long as the only name difference is after the "_" character.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

I've searched google and this thread for any possible solutions to my problem but haven't found anything. Everything is working fine with Easy Populate except when it comes to the product description field. I noticed several symbols and characters such as the degree symbol, single quote, and trademark symbol were all replaced with ?'s for example: It's becomes It?s. Ive read something about using escape characters but am not sure how to implement that.

try using the html code for them here is a site that has a conversion chart

http://www.tntluoma.com/sidebars/codes/

i noticed that also when i would use " they wouldn't show up so I'd have to use " .. if you have A LOT of products or suspect a lot of special characters I'd use a feature like "replace" in excel

Hey thanks a lot for the link. I think that using special characters is the way to go.. and doing a find and replace all in excel won't be too difficult! This really is a great mod. My distributor changes their prices every month (usually increases heh) and I was manually updating my prices to compensate for these increases. we're talking a lot of items. I actually made a spread sheet that auto adjusts for increases against my distributor's daily csv file so all I have to do is a copy and paste the values. If any one wants help creating a similar sheet just let me know!

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

I'm pretty new to using EP.
I had to create model numbers for all of my items, but I'm dealing with very few at the moment and was able to get a successful upload. However, all of the products are duplicated.
I wanted to replace the database, not add to it.

Can someone point me to a way to correct this? Thank you.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

I solved the problem above by putting 9 in v_status for every item.
It deleted everything. Then I uploaded my original file of which I saved a copy.

Apparently it wipes out the image directory, so I'm going to have to gather those up and replace them.

But a bigger problem is that EP appears to treat copied/linked items as entirely separate products when uploading the file again. The result is that I'm getting 2 and 3 copies of each.
How can I prevent this from happening? Doesn't Easy Populate recognize items as merely being linked/copied?

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Another thing I noticed is that all of my music product types appear to be general product types now. The artist field is completely gone when viewing the product entries in admin.
Does Easy Populate always lose the product type or have I missed something important here?

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

How do I specify a windows directory?

When I type in:

C:\wamp\www\uploads ,

it converts it to:

C:wampwwwuploads

Am I missing something?

I can't figure out how to get my items set back to music type products. Doing it manually means having to recreate about 225 items.
It also rules out being able to use EP for updates since it appears that it uploads all merchandise as general product type.
Very frustrating and disappointing.
Is there a way around this and to fix the damage I've done to my catalog?
Things were looking great before I used EP. Now I have duplicate entries, missing images, and altered product types.

Re: Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

has anyone gotten the upload directory to work on VISTA + WAMP?

I added write permissions to \temp\ for the vista IUSR account

Easy Populate now says,
Uploads Directory c:\temp
(thanks for the double \ tip)

But I still get this error

Easy Populate uploads folder not found

Your uploads folder is either missing, has incorrect permissions, or does not correspond with the Easy Populate configuration. Please confirm that the Easy Populate Configuration contains the correct location of an existing folder. If you have provided a folder and the configuration is correct, it is likely that you have a permissions issue with the uploads folder and need to request that your web host assign write permissions to the uploads folder. This is usually granted through Windows server user account IUSR_COMPUTERNAME. Easy Populate cannot operate until you have provided an uploads folder with read/write/execute permissions for the site owner.
