Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

bluesky2008:

have this image handler downloaded http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&products_id=117 http://www.zen-cart.com/pub/.jbccbogqzphmypylscq/image_handler__for_vx_2-0_for_137.zip)

am sure uploaded all files to the right directories and make the correct image names.

but no additional images shows up on product page.
by the way, it works well on the small zoom and watermark, images are used from the bmz_cache.

all of thoes files of that image handler are correct? or the problem isnt due to those files which should be uploaded? if so, which other file might be wrong?

How are you uploading additional images?

No upper case file ex (jpg JPG).

Be sure there is No spaces in the file name.

M

Thanks so much for your help, I finally got it to work. Not sure what was going on, but there weren't any spaces in the file names, so what I finally did, was just go in and delete all the images out of the large file, and then it would let me add new ones. I love how easy it makes it to add more images to a product too! I'm so glad I finally got it to working, I had given up more than once, but kept wanting it, so am very thankful for your help!! :)

Putting images in the large/medium folders turns off IH for those images.
With IH you only need to upload "1" image (the largest image you want display). IH will create the small and medium image from this file.

I would start on 1 product, delete all images for that product then use IH to upload new image (see about 10 post back how to do this). You can also add additional images the same way for a product. The cool thing doing it this way IH will auto rename additional image in the correct format.

Glad you figured it out.
Site looking good, see that you made some changes to your style sheet.
Do see 1 thing, your Dapper Doxie header banner is a bit to wide. You can see it on the right side.

i creat a new product, and transfer the image test.jpg from admin IH, then i transfer another test.jpg, IH auto rename it to test_01.jpg, but it still not showing up on product page.

i have had a test, here is the picture of the product page to explain,

it means the additional images are right here, just we can't see them !

and i view the source of the product page, it shows the right directories of the additional images, for example images test_01.jpg auto rename to a name with the long numbers from the bmz_cache folder, and see the link to large images, it seems everything's right.

but those additional images still not showing up on the product page, its very strange, they are just like transparent !

i tried to clear the image cache by admin, but no luck.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

Hello all, We are trying to give our images friendly names. However for example, when we name an image necklace.jpg on the file system, zen cart renames the image. I noticed this by surfing to the web page that has the necklace image and viewing source. Zen Cart renames the image to something like: It is renaming it as GUID. http://www.spendyourhusbandsmoney.co...ge.124x120.jpg

Is there a way to maintain a friendly name for each of our images?

We already posted this question in the general questions and based from the response we got (appreciate it a lot, glenn!) that it is because of the image handler 2. Without IH2, there is no impediment of naming our images exactly as we want. Is that really true? Any solution on that you all might know or suggestion how to fix it? (we don't want to take out the IH2 from our site though)

Thanks,
Joy Crossley

We are trying to give our images friendly names. Not possible with Image Handler. It needs to ensure that every image is uniquely named and so generates names using an algorithm designed to prevent rather than sound pretty.

To name the images how you want you would need to dispense with Image Handler and take the responsility for avoiding name clashes yourself (or re-write Image Handler with different priorities). The only restriction would be the length of the image name including any preceeding path names (32 characters I believe - though you can increase it by changing the database table schema).

Hi Kuroi,

Another question, what all we lose by taking the image handler out of play. If we remove IH2, our only concern is making sure each of our images is uniquely named?

Thanks!

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

I think my eyes are glazing over all my searches, so I apologize if it's been asked before (which it probably has... >.<).

My problem is, I want the mouse-over effect on only images in the product listing and product info pages.

When enabled on small images it does it for icons for categories too, and I've tried disabling it for small images, and leaving it enabled for medium images, but then it doesn't work mouse-over zoom on anything!

Thanks for your help. <3

Mouseover was never enable for the product display page (medium sized images) as it uses the same image for both (mouse over effect).
Do a search for my user name is this thread. I list what image placements uses IH based upon what the small image size.
You can control this by image size you set in Admin--> Images.
What you need to do is change the categories image size so it's not the same size as the small image, Admin--> Images.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

IH2 seems to be working well for us on 1.3.8a, with one exception.

When we click "View Larger Image" on the product detail page, it shows the original large image and not a resized version.

Our preferences are set to:

IH resize images: Yes
IH large image maximum width: 450
IH large image maximum height: 450

We are still seeing the original, unrenamed images at the original size (ex. 1000 px x 1000 px).

Is this the correct behavior, is it a 1.3.8a issue, or did we miss a setting?

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

I just installed IH2, but I had to account for a number of personal modifications, and what appeared to be ZC changes since the version of IH2 was developed.

Perhaps a result (though I'm not entirely clear), I have two issues.

The first issue is the more odd, and may be caused by my working around mods. The site does not do popups even with the config for it enabled. I'm looking at the thumbnail to medium popups that (as I understand it) are supposed to popup when you mouseover a thumbnail [for example, in a category listing].

I'm unclear from picking through the included files where the actual implimentation for that comes from. I don't see any file included that modifies the html around thumbnails, so I'm not sure what I may have missed including. I mainly didn't copy over the 'modules' files (those were the main overwrites), because I didn't see anything in there that related to thumbnails - it all seemed to related to the medium to large popups.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The second, and far less important, SHOULDN'T be caused by any selective installation: I installed the admin-side files as-is, as there were no real over-writes (other than the category_product_listing.php file, which I modded in the single change).

I was unable to use IH2 to delete an existing image that existed prior to the installation. I don't know if this is a bug or a problem with my installation; when I deleted the file by FTP from the images directory, the IH2 page showed 'no images', but once I uploaded a new copy of said image, IH2 showed 2 images for the product (one with the old filename). It was a weird situation; I can deal manually with the old images, I just don't want IH2 to mess up my existing stuff with extra images or anything.
