Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

tophand:

Have you tried clearing the bmz_cache?

What I do:
admin->tools->Image Handler->Admin and click "Remove Image Handler from Database".
Note: Doing this does not delete "any" files.
Now click the link "Clear image cache".
Might also ftp or use your host control panel and delete all sub folders under bmz_cache folder.
Now click the link to install image handler.

M

Ok - Did all of that and the issue remains exactly as it was before.

So, i tried copying another category image that gets processed correctly, then renamed it to the filename for the Easter category, and the copied file got processed. (Go figure.)

How does it know the difference?? Except for the image, EVERYTHING else is the same - dimensions, file extension, ownership settings, file permissions...

I am beginning to think there is something wrong with my new image files but that's such a crazy explanation that i find it nearly impossible to believe...

Ugh!! So Elusive! :frusty:

I FIGURED IT OUT!!!!

The actual image dimensions have to be LARGER than the large image size dimensions set in the ih2 settings!!! (In the case of the category image, the actual image sizes of other images on the server were much bigger, so it was getting processed - i was actually wrong in saying that the images were all the same size - i was looking at the sizes of the PROCCESSED images.)

Ok, this prompts me for the back story in case anyone else ever runs into this too:

When i started using zen cart i was already optimizing my images and processing them out of photoshop at the large image dimensions i wanted. So, one of the reasons i installed IH2 was to use the watermarking feature. Well, needless to say, i could never get it to work on the large images and i made a post on here and nobody could figure it out. I figured i messed up something in the core code that i just could - not - find. So i gave up for a while out of frustration.

SO! All i was looking for was to have the large images watermarked, but as it turns out, if an image's actual dimensions are equal to or below the maximum pixel size for width and height in the settings, it will not get processed - even if you want it to put a watermark on it. Since it sees no need to process the image because it is already at the correct pixels, the watermarking never happened on the large images.

Hope that all made sense!

haha, thanks. :smartalec:

It's only taken me about a year to figure it out! That's not a joke, either!! Hence my excitement.

Perhaps someone who works Image Handler will see my tear jerking story and address this issue because while i might be smart, i'm not smart enough to improve the code!!

One cold beer for me, please.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

gurudarbar:

Tried that, no sucesss....

Yes, I have installed it using the admin installer. Still no luck. What I do is select an item from the categories, then browse for the picture locally, then it looks like it uploads the image and even spits back a little message saying it saved the image successfully.

However, the image thumbnails are blank and there are seemingly no images visible where I just uploaded the image....check the screen cap...

Any ideas?
How big is the image?

You did check that you uploaded all the files needed for IH?
includes/modules/additional_images.php
And the files admin/includes/ ?

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

My apologies if this has been dealt with before, I've tried searching the threads with no luck so far.

I uploaded IH yesterday to one of my sites and while the image hovers all work, whenever I add an additional image via IH it displays the thumb but doesn't open up, it just hangs there. When I FTP the image it works. The images are all going in the same file whether I FTP them or upload via IH.

I'm using Lightbox and Ultimate SEO URLs, in case any of these might make a difference. I have Lightbox and IH on another site and they seem to work fine.

I just installed Image Handler 2 and all is well except for the fact that my additional images don't show up. I can load them fine with Image Handler but they don't show up on my product pages, what's up?

Find a product that has additional images - What are the file names for the images that you are using?

Have you FTP'd to any of your image files that are not working and checked the file size there to double check that they are not corrupted?

Also, when you respond to posts it is helpful if you click on the "Quote" button on the post that you are replying to - this way people can quickly see what you are responding to.

If you REALLY did not do ANY code editing since it was working, you might want to call your hosting provider and ask them if they made any changes to their PHP config.

ACTUALLY - One thing that might want to check before you make that phone call is whether or not GD Support is enabled. The GD Libraries are what is frequently used by Image Handler to do the image resizing. You can read about it here: http://us3.php.net/gd

You can check this by logging into your admin, and on the top right click on "Version" and do a quick text search for "GD"

If it has been disabled for some reason, this might be causing the problem.

If it is enabled, maybe you could ask your host if there were any changes made in the past day or so to the GD Library.

I am having the same issue. An example: base image called P892fv.jpg and additional image called P892fv_01.jpg. I can view them both in IH but the second image simply does not show up. I have been stuck on this for days so any help would be greatly appreciated.

No i didnt do anything, except try to load a new product, and yes the GD is enabled. So i should ask dreamhost if they made any changes to their PHP configurationn ? As you call tell this is all kinda out of my league :-(

Have you used the Thread Tools button at the top to search this whole thread for people with additional image issues? There have been a number of other people with this problem and things you can try to troubleshoot this.

It's worth the phone call because stuff like that happens. If they swear that they haven't made any changes, at least you can eliminate that from the list of possible causes.

If you have no answers there try re-uploading all the IH2 files again, and triple check the image files you are using - Make sure they are 100% solid jpg files and check to see that they have the correct file permissions, set to 755.

And if none of that works, you can always back up and re-apply IH2 from scratch.

Maybe someone else has some input on your errors...?
