Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

pharry:

I'm not wanting to display a photo FOR the category, but rather on the page when the category is selected.
You can upload a pic with <img> tag in the description area.
However this has nothing to do with IH2, post your issue in page layout forums.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

Okay, thanks. I posted here, because I was asking if I could use IH to pop up enlargements for me on these pictures. So that answer that question is no.

@ diva,
I very much respect your input on all the subjects I have seen so far; however I must caution you on engaging in off-topic debates.
People complain all the time that the thread is too large, several solutions have been offered, one recently by the original author, yet users keep whining.
Let's not make the thread even larger by engaging in off-topic.
If we were to follow suit to this new "contribution", users with more credentials (re tophand) could have done so much earlier, yet they humbly chose not to.
There are many suggestions, "fixes", mods, etc. in this thread. If every one felt entitled to upload their own we would have a second large thread, only in the download area.
Let's keep everything in its place, respecting choice does not mean to cave in to wanton behavior.
I vote against putting all these pseudo-patches in the downloads area and encourage moderators not to include it.

The point of my lengthy post to need_help was as follows:

  1. Anyone REALLY needing this functionality can search for it on this forum like we all do whenever we're looking to do something in particular with our Zen Cart sites.
  2. If he felt that the functionality was SO vital (I still say it's NOT that vital or even an often requested piece of functionality), that he was entitled to upload this "vital" code snippet to the downloads area and see if the moderators approve it.. I personally think that IF the moderators approve it, that it should be a VERY separate upload, and NOT included in the Image Handler add-on.. (Because FRANKLY the hover affect on the product image could be achieved WITHOUT Image Handler)
  3. I do agree with you... Every single tweak, modification, etc does not need to a part of every add-on. For one thing the folks who are really maintaining the main add-on aren't necessarily gonna keep up with these tweaks and mods..
Anyway in the name of letting this beaten horse die, I'm done with my contribution to this thread hi-jacking.. Back to our normal programming..

Frankly Diva i consider what i have done to be helping out.

I consider it helping out because for almost a year i had no functionality with medium images zooming to large.

The whole purpose of Image_Handler should be to provide an option to allow small images to zoom AND medium images to zoom to large.

Your post is disgusting to me and it's hostile. Especially the last part regarding thread hijacking.

I am done with this discussion and possibly this forum as people like you just insult and degrade and frankly offer poor options.

The options to you are search, search, search, - I already made it clear that newbies might not be aware enough to search for this particular function and including it as an add on patch is a very good idea. You said i should zip it up and include it in the downloads section - I did that and now you come back on and have yet another dig at my suggestion and complain yet again.

How can any reasonable person object to having this as an optional extra ? You give people the choice Diva you don't make them wade through a forum looking for it.

Is this some sort of cliche issue ? Have i come here and annoyed you because i'm not part of some cliche ?

I can't be bothered coming here to help out and facing people like you who are just obstructive and annoying as hell.

Your post degrades me and belittles my attempt to help people with a function that i i believe others consider vital to Image_Handler.

This place has some good people helping out and then it has the obstructive ones who just want to make us all search for ever more and waste time searching and asking for help when the help could be right there in the download section.

Ok Diva have a great day and whatever your issues in life are please leave me out of them and try to cut out the personal attacks because thats what your post is.

I also don't need to hear i'm too sensitive and i don't need to hear how this is how forums are. Your post is the sort which puts people off helping. It's put me off and i think i'm going to just not visit here unless i really need to get some help. Thats a shame too as i feel 18 months experience learning zen cart would mean i could help others with certain issues but i just don't want to come to a place which has rude people like yourself.

autocustomsdirect:

I have the most recent Zen and IH2 installed but can't seem to get the image to show up when I hover over smaller images.

Its turned on in settings.
In order to fix the jumping around issue, I recently copied the css, jscript, and popup_additional_image folders from default to my custom folder. THAT WORKED GREAT BY THE WAY!

When I scroll over a small image, the text label comes up perfect but there is no image.

Is there something else I should have copied over from the default folder?I would double check that you have all of the files installed in the correct locations.. If you have a custom template make sure that template specific files are in your custom template folder.. Also a link to your site might be helpful..

I probably don't have everything in the right folder.
I also cleared the bmz_cache folder too in an effort to fix it.

I'll PM you my site info now.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

I have installed IH 3 times now over the past 3 weeks. I get everything in the admin as it suppose to be. However, I am not getting images in (my template) product info page.

progroom dot com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=61_109

I don't want to install anymore mods and continue designing until I get this working. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you uploaded images?
I check a couple of your products and and cannot find the images.
Where are these images?

Note: IH doesn't upsize images very well and can fail

I am uploading an image through the original ZenCart way, then I add the IH images. Am I adding images correctly?

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

I have only uploaded an image for the one product info page. In the source page it states:

<noscript> <a href="http://progroom dot com/shop/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=735" target="_blank"><img src="images/medium/stylistwear/SW109-147-3.jpg" alt="Stylist Wear Groomers Jacket with Collar" title=" Stylist Wear Groomers Jacket with Collar " width="60" height="0" /><br /><span class="imgLink">larger image</span></a></noscript>

I have removed it from the above folder. I have moved it to the large folder. I have deleted it all together and I still can't get IH to work.

The images you are talking about is a complete different product that I am not working on. I am working on apparel/jackets/stylist wear jacket with no collar.

Hey there.. I looked at your PM, and it is hard to tell from looking at the list of files/folders whether you have everything installed correctly.. (don't know if all the directories/files were copied over to your site.. You don't need files from the default template folder. However you do need to make sure you have correctly copied over the Image Handler files to your site..

Copy the following directories into your Zen Cart folder.

  • admin
  • bmz_cache
  • images
  • includes

Make sure that the "bmz_cache" folder's permissions match those of your
images folder (e.g 0777, 0775 or 0755).

Go to admin->Tools->Image Handler 2->Admin and click "Install Image Handler"

If you use a custom template, copy the contents of
includes/templates/templates_custom into your custom template folder
or
merge the files if the target files have already been customized by you.For the part highlighted in red, I would unzip the Image Handler add-on, rename the includes/templates/templates_custom folder match your custom template folder name and then just copy over EVERYTHING to your site.. I believe that the heart of your issue is that you don't have Image Handler fully installed..

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

Hi DivaVocals,

Ok, I added another template that I had. I added the IH code to the template. I reinstalled step by step all other folders and files and I still see no image for this product.

http://progroom dot com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=61_109&products_id=735

I am absolutely going crazy as I have got to get this store to zencart from osc and I have over 2000 images. The bmz_cache permissions are the same as my images folder 0777.

I have redownloaded and installed. Am I suppose to add the shopad folder and files?

Thanks,
Kaddie

hey guys,

IH2 works perfectly on a 1.3.8a install with the security patch, except the preview function doesn't work in the admin section. should i care? i tried to re-install it etc, but the imagelinks are still "/shop/shop/storemanager/images/ih-test.png" etc.

best regards

just bumping my question. even fual slimbox works perfectly with ih2, so i guess i shouldn't care about the preview function right?

There is no image for this product. Just get a error page.
http://progroom dot com/shop/images/medium/stylistwear/SW109-3-lg.jpg

You only need to upload 1 main product image, the largest image you want to display to the /shop/image folder. IH will create the small and medium image from that image.

Might have trouble using image file names like SW109 if you are planning to use additional images.
https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=315

What template are you using and where did you get it?
