Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

It may not be as instantaneous as getting a ready answer, but the thread search feature works great, and so does the general forum search function.. You just have to be willing to roll up your sleeves a little to get answers..

Having dealt with the vb search feature...it can be frustrating in the best of times. And if you HAVE a word that is less than 3 letters long to search for, it won't.

Yes it helps but to say it works great is a vast stretch of the imagination. Liz

Your question was answered along with a link to the fix back in post #3984

If you want to have large images to popup/hover instead of the medium image then feel free to rewrite the code for that.
The how to has been posted in this thread. Might have to go back a year to find it.

Having dealt with the vb search feature...it can be frustrating in the best of times. And if you HAVE a word that is less than 3 letters long to search for, it won't.Which is why I use Google's Advanced search where you can search within a secific domain. (just did this moments ago to look up "Rent A Coder")

southernlady:

Yes it helps but to say it works great is a vast stretch of the imagination. LizWe'll have to agree to disagree then.. shrugs IMO the search works just fine for me..

Bottomline is that in the world of open source solutions where on their forums you either barely get a response or you get snarky and vague reponses this forum is a godsend. The example which exemplifies the snarky and non-responsive type of environment is the Virtuemart forum. (talk about getting NO answers!!!:censored:) In comparison, I rarely have issues getting answers I need on this forum (even for SUPER long support threads like this one). The FEW questions I did not get answers to, I simply found a viable alternate solution.

I have learned that I must be creative and persistent to find the answers I am looking for. It helps when you are working within a community of folks willing to volunteer their time and expertise to help a fellow Zenner out..

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

need_help:

Large image is what you get when you hover the mouse over the medium image.

Therefore you cannot get any larger and thats it.

Someone needs to make sure the Image Handler patch which allows the medium images to zoom to large is in the Image Handler downloads section.

It isn't at present as i had to go to a disc backup i had made to install it to get the medium images to zoom. ( for another site )

Why don't you post this patch?

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

Hello

I've installed Image Handler on sites before and on the server I'm running on now but this time the Image Handler doesn't appear to be working!

I've re-uploaded all the files and removed and installed it but no luck

Has anybody got any bright ideas about what's going on?

Thanks

Andy

People, I'd recommend using this duplicate file finder to deal with unnecessary files on your hard drive. It has many functions, user-friendly interface, safety options and 100% efficiency.
People, don't click on that link and don't buy that crap. These are attacks by SPAMMERS.

Why don't you post this patch?
The only patches I have installed are your version of javascript image_hover and the one yellow1912 posted.
I don't know what this patch is, and images hover fine for me.

Sorry - the site with the problem is https://www.daisywest.co.uk - there are other sites on the same server where the Image Handler is functioning correctly.

Forget my problem fellas after much pulling out of hair - I've sorted it and the worst thing was that it wasn't an Image handler problem!

Sheesh...

AndySo what was the issue?? It might help others if you post it here.. Like for example I discovered that additional images didn't work on all products and the issue was my client was using single quotes in her product names.. It's not an Image Handler issue, but it was good information to report to others (who might have thought it was an Image Handler problem like I did)..

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

OK, the issue was that another contribution - Ultimate SEO URLS - had been installed which overwrote the zen_image function in html_output.html. This caused the images processing override to prevent Image Handler from running.

Simply really - but I got sidetracked in looking at IH rather than the underlying issue!

Doh!

That is what I want to know.
Curious also, why I ask to post it up.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

I think this is the patch to which they are referring: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpost.php?p=489431&postcount=2147

It make it so you can hover over the "medium" or product image and it will pop up with the large one. It works great! :bigups:

I made a small change which is noted in the readme file, there was a missing <br /> that causes the "zoom" text to sit next to the image instead of under it if the "medium zoom" box is turned off in admin.

The other note of caution with this is patch is, if you have made the suggested changes listed in the security patches to the includes/functions/html_output.php file, do NOT directly upload that file from this patch, but instead do a compare and merge them or you will undo your previous changes.

All the other files can just be uploaded as-is once you change the YOUR_TEMPLATE file name to your actual file name.

You can view the patch in action here: http://bestsewingdeals.com/zen-cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1619

Blessings,
Krisann

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

If you are getting the dreaded javascript pageY error, open your includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/jscript folder and make the following tiny change to the jscript_imagehover.js

Very near line 124 you should see:
ycoord += event.clientY - Math.max(0,(0 + zoomimg_h + (5 * padding) + event.pageY - docheight - truebody().scrollTop));

it should be:

ycoord += event.clientY - Math.max(0,(0 + zoomimg_h + (5 * padding) + event.clientY - docheight - truebody().scrollTop));

The links in this thread to the support no longer work and the ones with instructions aren't very clear. Hopefully anyone looking for the fix will find it here.

Blessings,
Krisann

Thanks for posting.

Note: I wouldn't call this a patch as it does not "Fix" a error/broken file. It just changes how a clean IH install works.
