List your Zen inventory on eBay

LoL Yeah that answer was the best I have seen in a long time.

I think it is more than safe to say 10K / month and 1.5 million upon certification.

What is also amazing is the amount of support I get from eBay now. I don't know who said what to whom. I simply mentioned the project I am working on for osc based shopping carts, particularly Zen Cart, and I got support calling me to make sure everything is ok? WoW! You would think I shelled out 100k or something. Super nice folks at eBay support and relations. :0)

Simply amazing...

At any rate eventually I am gonna have to beg for some money for my work. I've got 3 weeks into this at 12-16 hours a day and I am still not done. I turned down two fulltime jobs to work on this software. They were heavy labour jobs so I didn't mind not doing them. I did take off 3 days total due to pnuemonia. But I am very close to having this project out the door. SOOON!!!

I had hotdogs for dinner the last two nights if anyone cares to know. I guess people really didn't understand that I work on this software fulltime. This is my real job. If I am not getting paid somewhere I do in fact starve.

I am adding a PayPal module to my website to reduce myself to begging for donations.

Re: List your Zen inventory on eBay

Hi David,

Great idea, is this ready yet as I went to http://auctionlisterpro.com/ and can't see where to download anything?

Can I download it now to use?

Also the main thing I would like to be able to quickly and easily send INVOICES and tracking numbers to ebay customers, when users order on my zen-cart I can create the invoice easily but when they buy it eBay I have to do it up manually ...

regards,
Dave

Re: List your Zen inventory on eBay

Hi Dave!

Your eBay winners will become your cart customers automatically when you notify them via email from ALP after they have won an auction.

After you notify them all their information is put into your shopping cart database and you can handle them just as any regular customer that came to your website.

I haven't released anything yet. Still cleaning up some very small problems and testing with eBay. I could release it now but I want to make sure it is perfect. :0)

I do update my site several times a day so you can check there for more information on when a demo will be available. I would like to have some people review my functional demo in a couple of days to see how they like it.

Hope this helps,
David

Hi David,

Thanks for the quick reply ... Well that sounds awesome! It is a pain to keep track of eBay customers so if I can have them put into Zen-Cart like normal orders and send them tracking numbers and generate invoices just as easily that is awesome

thanks for much for your hard work and I will defiantely stay tuned

cheers,
Dave

Re: List your Zen inventory on eBay

No problem. :0)

I am working on the eBay redirect part of the cart now. I does look like I may have to modify 1 file after all.

Basically on osCommerce I can modify login.php and add some stuff there to redirect eBay users so they log in automatically. I just don't see that file on Zen cart.

Re: List your Zen inventory on eBay

David,

I remember when I had to setup an addon I had to signup for the google api.

Wouldn't it save you allot of money if your addon required that anyone who wishes to use it get a google api. That way your id wouldn't be responsible for several thousand connections.

You could still charge for the addon but you wouldn't have to pay ebay so much money to use the api.

Just a thought.

Re: List your Zen inventory on eBay

Just a couple of things to follow up on posts...

Everyone will need their own eBay developer account with keys and token file. It's all free and I started a writeup on the website. Search Token and it should show up in the results.

Auction Lister Pro is almost ready for general testing and consumption. I have a couple of more things to do before I call it done for version 1.

I do have some file trimming to do to remove some bloat and it could all use a re-write which I will get started on "after" the initial release so you folks can get started using it.

There are also a couple of ffunctions that I want to add that I didn't think of before. So I would like to get those changes in before release.

I do apologize that it is taking longer than I had first anticipated. But when you get it setup I think you will find that it was well worth the few weeks of waiting.

As usual daily updates are on my website.

Re: List your Zen inventory on eBay

David!!!!!!! HOLY WOW man!!! I just read all the way through this thread. You rock...

Please, please tell me everyone didn't "gloss" over the post above mentioning donations??? You've gotten some right??? Not just people demanding where is it and when can I have my download?

I totally have dropped using my Ebay store because trying to FINALLY get the two I have up and running on ZenCart with my new merchant accts has been rediculous. Too many plates to hold, too few hands. So this mod is going to be amazing. I love having everything in one place in one admin, in one freakin window. Love it. Huge thanks for all the work, and for all the updates.

I can't wait to test it!

so can I have my download now?

how bout now?......................... ;) J/K

Re: List your Zen inventory on eBay

I have signed up for the developer token, and received my security keys. Now do I just wait until the application is finish or is there anything else that is needed?

Re: List your Zen inventory on eBay

First of all thank you for the mad props. :0)

Once you have your developer keys and token file generated for the sandbox that is all you will need for right now.

When the application is ready I will put in a couple of fields for the keys so they get written out to the config file for you.

The token file is simply an eBay token that goes into a text file called my.token. You will need to copy this into the folder after you install. You can generate one now for sandbox usage or you can wait until you are ready to test.

What else? I highly recommend that everyone get a sandbox account and test this before it goes into production to make sure that they understand how it all works. Then once you are comfortable you can self certify your site and get your production keys and you are free to have at it.

Just to let everyone know...there has not been a release as of this point so there is nothing to download. I am working very hard at all this but it is just me and 80 hours of programming, 40 hours of website upkeep and 10 hours of managing email. I still have to find time to sleep and have some coffee breaks. It's coming soon I promise.

Oh and one more thing...there is no store management built into ALP yet. But don't go getting rid of your store just yet. Yahoo stores are great traffic generators. You won't be able to manage both stores yet but you will be able to list 100% of your product inventory on eBay auctions.

Re: List your Zen inventory on eBay

Looking for testers.

The moment of truth has arrived. Test drive the interface before it's released and help a guy out.

I need some help creating, buying and closing auctions. This is so I can finish the checkout process stuff. I don't have time to work on everything and create all the test auctions and I need LOTS more data.

Details are on my site. Sign up and send me a PM (on my website) and I will add you to the group.

Thanks

Re: List your Zen inventory on eBay

C'Mon people,

Jump on it! The sooner we help David with testing and the more feedback we can give him on what he's accomplished thus far, the sooner we get a completed, working module!

It's looking good so far, but I'm just one person. The more eyes there are looking, the more we can see.

Re: List your Zen inventory on eBay

Hey Tom,

If you want to get started just start playing around with things. Don't worry. You can't break anything. The most that can happen is you spend an hour creating an HTML template and someone else comes along and overwrites yours with the Save Function. :0)

So if you create a fancy HTML Code page then please keep a copy on your machine so you can copy and paste it back in.

I think I will find some templates and put those on the website so you can copy and paste them into the editor for now.

Go ahead and create some auctions. There are all kinds of neat things you can do.
