Edit Orders v4.0 Support Thread

Strongly agree with cartwhat's comments above about (unnecessarily?) re-writing the product line. Especially for those of us using the Product Descriptions mod : http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42503, this re-write deletes the product descriptions previously saved. Would really appreciate if this plug-in could be adjusted to play nicely with the other.

You have modified the DEFAULT order process for YOUR store so that the product description is captured and therefore displayed on the invoice and packing slips.. Now your expectation is that Edit Orders which works WITH the DEFAULT order process should be modified so that it works with a modification that is NOT standard, and may not be of use for most Edit Orders users???

This is absolutely NOT the right course of action.. The change YOU NEED made to Edit Orders is one you will have to make yourself or seek community assistance to execute, but this change in NO WAY should be included in the Edit Orders core as the MAJORITY of users have not made this same modification (nor should they HAVE make it)..

Re: Edit Orders v4.0 Support Thread

Easy...easy... Who said anything that this was a "required/needed" change? Or what my "expectations" are?

The only minor point that I was attempting to submit was that when code completely rewrites/overwrites records, it seems that it may increase the chance of having side effects that conflict with other mods. But that's my novice opinion (only supported by the fact that the product descriptions mod has been negatively impacted).

Your position that the best course of action is staying vanilla would undoubtedly keep life less complicated. I had no intent that my agreement with the other post would get me flamed. I surrender the forum to you divavocals.

Well let's see.. I drew this conclusion from your own initial statement..

apollowilcox:

Would really appreciate if this plug-in could be adjusted to play nicely with the other.

Which appears to imply that a change to Edit Orders is needed to work with another modification you made to YOUR store..

A change to the edit_orders.php file is what is required to add in the functionality you've added to the default order process. Thus my point that it is not a change that needs to be made to Edit Orders in general, but a change you will need to make to your own store's Edit Orders implementation. Not everyone needs/wants the same changes you made.. Therefore they shouldn't be "forced" into the general Edit Orders code..

Oh for goodness sakes.. REALLY???? Not an argument or a flame.. don't know why folks always assume that a different POV = argument or a flame.. SMH

Exactly! When a modification changes the definition of a core Zen Cart database table or the processing / handling of data in a core Zen Cart database table, there is an increased risk of a conflict with other modifications. In addition, one needs to look for all other code using the same database table and also apply the modifications (to avoid issues).

The "Product Descriptions" modification changes the definition of a core Zen Cart database table. Since "Edit Orders" reads and writes from this table, users of the "Product Descriptions" modification will also need to apply the same changes to "Edit Orders" they applied to core Zen Cart files.

NOTE: Best practice in Zen Cart 1.5+ for writing a plugin (or modification) is to avoid changing any: core database tables, data formats used in core database tables, and core files. This helps avoid potential conflicts (and makes the modifications more likely to continue working in future versions of Zen Cart).

Re: Edit Orders v4.0 Support Thread

ok. i manually delete those files which need to be deleted, cause even i set the 777 permission to these files, they still can not be deleted by the web browser. Also for those files need to be written, i set the permission to 777, and then it seems Edit Orders works well.

Not sure if there will be any problem in the future, if any one knows, please let me know. thank you.

Re: Edit Orders v4.0 Support Thread

I just installed Edit Orders v4.0, in Zen Cart 1.5.0, I had some trouble with adding a coupon code with page going to white screen after the submit, but found a fix-it for that in this area of the form. But another problem cropped up that I can not find an answer for. I have a shipping insurance module installed. Before I installed Edit Orders v4.0, the correct shipping insurance amount was there. When I edited the order for the coupon code, the shipping insurance dropped down to $2.45, and although it allows me to retype in the correct amount, it just will not save to the database when I submit the amount, it remains at $2.45. All other amounts remain correct. But on top it says my submit was saved successfully. I have no error messages in debugging for this either. Why did this module change the shipping insurance amount, and why does it not save the correct amount when I try to resubmit it? Any suggestions to fix-it? I can't afford $2.45 insurance rate on larger orders like this.

What "shipping insurance" module?
What version of Edit Orders?

NOTE: Be aware in Edit Orders 4.1+ any "order total" lines are handled and processed by the associated "order total module" - NOT by Edit Orders. So if your "shipping insurance" modules uses a Zen Cart "order total module", the question becomes "why is the order total module not calculating the correct insurance amount (when loaded from the Zen Cart admin)?".

Re: Edit Orders v4.0 Support Thread

Actually Insurance was correct pre-install of Edit Orders 4.1.4. After installed, when I tried to update a coupon code to a customer, the Shipping Insurance changed to the much lower value, even though no new entry was made in that field. I'm going to install Shipping Insurance v3.2.2 and see if the problem persists.

There are multiple different "shipping insurance" modules available for Zen Cart (and probably a few commercial modules). Are you using this module: Optional Shipping Insurance? Something else (provide source)?

I am currently unable to duplicate this issue with Edit Orders 4.1.3 - 4.1.5 when using the above mentioned module. The current version of the Optional Shipping Insurance module posted in the plugins section of this site (3.2.2) returns nothing when loaded in the admin ($charge_it is set to 'false'), so will not recalculate the order total automatically.

Perhaps some OTHER tool is configured to access / sync / modify the order in the database (such as QuickBooks, Sage, etc)? Or a different module is in use?

Re: Edit Orders v4.0 Support Thread

Hello Everyone!
Great mode, but I'm having an issue I seem not to find the answer for.
Clean ZC 1.5.1 install, with Super Orders and Edit Orders 4.1.4, + other modules.

In edit orders, adding a discount coupon on an order without taxes, the total is calculated correctly.
However, adding a discount coupon on an order with taxes, the total is calculated incorrectly. Everything else works fine, with every scenario, except this.
Has anyone encountered this before? Can someone point me in the right direction to figure this one out?
Thanks a bunch for the help!

Re: Edit Orders v4.0 Support Thread

Hi, I appreciate any assistance. I previously posted the last paragraph below in the thread for Super Orders and then realized that this is probably more appropriate. I also just upgraded my version of Edit Orders to 4.1.4 following all instructions in the read me carefully. Now things have gotten worse as:

I don't recall what they said before but my screen titles have changed to: "HEADING_TITLE_ORDERS_LISTING" and "HEADING_TITLE_ORDER_DETAILS560". This latter heading reflects order # 560. I know that they said something different before as these look like a file name or something

on the Orders Listing screen, hitting the Edit button results in a 404 error on an otherwise blank page

some of the bottons that were previously inside the Order Details screen are gone. I now only have Edit, Print and Invoice and previously there were more. Hitting the Edit button results in a 404 error on an otherwise blank page

I installed Super Orders ver 4.1 earlier this year. Now I see the latest posted here is 4.0.9 so I'm confused already. But my problems have occured when I recently needed to edit orders. I'm running ver 1.51 of Zencart. My first use of Edit orders, Hitting either "Update" button after changing the quantity of a line item resulted in a blank whit screen. I was able to edit a line item dollar amounts but my sub-total and totals did not change nor was I able to manually change them. Yesterday I had a need to change to add products and although I was able to select the additional product, I wind up with the same white blank screen when hitting the "Add Now" button. Thank you

I previously posted the last paragraph below in the thread for Super Orders and then realized that this is probably more appropriate.Any functionality having to do with EDITING orders belongs here since Super Orders does not edit orders.. (It's an order management module which adds features to the default order management functionality of Zen Cart)

Dunno where you acquired your version of Super Orders from, but neither on the Github repo (where BETA versions are kept) or in the downloads here on the Zen Cart site is there a Super Orders v4.1..

Re: Edit Orders v4.0 Support Thread

Maybe it was edit orders 4.1? Although that specific version was issued in April of last year with the most recent (4.1.4) available late Jan of this year.

Re: Edit Orders v4.0 Support Thread

Sorry, I got the two plug-ins confused. I have version 4.0.2 of Super Orders and just installed version 4.1.4 of Edit Orders after previously having version 4.1.0 I'm running ver 1.51 of Zencart.

Re: Edit Orders v4.0 Support Thread

@landron

Are you saying when you visit "/admin/orders.php" you are seeing "HEADING_TITLE_ORDERS_LISTING"?
Are you saying when you visit "/admin/edit_orders.php" you see a "HTTP 404"?
Are you saying when you visit "/admin/edit_orders.php" you see a "blank page"?

Please answer ALL of the questions from the posting tips. Doing so will help us better help you!

NOTE: At first glance (without more details), it sounds like merges gone wrong.

Re: Edit Orders v4.0 Support Thread

Zencart 1.51 fresh install (not an upgrade) utizing FTP and run zen_install. Site has been doing business about a year and functioning fine. I never used the edit orders until needing it recently.

Server OS: Linux 3.12.32.1415814620 Database: MySQL 5.5.40-36.1-log
HTTP Server: Apache
PHP Version: 5.4.34 (Zend: 2.4.0)

Plug-ins include Super Orders ver 4.0.2 and Ty Package Tracker (no version # listed) which were installed over a year ago together with Edit Orders 4.10. Many other plug-ins affecting various areas and all work.

As per the posting instructions, I looked for "myDebug-adm-xxxxxxx.log" can't seem to find it. I don't have a folder named "myDebug" anywhere that I can can find when viewing in Filezilla. There is no "logs" folder and the "cache" folde does not have any logs in it.

When viewing "/admin/orders.php" I'm seeing "HEADING_TITLE_ORDERS_LISTING" above my list of orders. There use to be something else there and I can't recall but this doesn't seem right.

When viewing "/admin/edit_orders.php" I get a "HTTP 404" error page from my hosting company

When hitting either "Edit" button (on the orders.php page or on the details page of a specific order), I also get the "HTTP 404" error page from my hosting company and the url that appears is /admin/FILENAME_ORDER_EDIT.php?oID=562

Prior to upgrading Edit Orders this morning, I was running Edit Orders ver 4.10 and it looked right and partially functioned. It allowed me to edit the quantity of a line item but gave me a blank screen as a result. Going back would bring the page back with the new quantity and line item total. It would not allow any editing to the totals or shipping charges nor did they change automatically. When I saw there was a new version, I went through the install as per the readme and this is how I got to the present state.

The site is: http://OnlineWineSale.com

Re: Edit Orders v4.0 Support Thread

landron:

...
When viewing "/admin/orders.php" I'm seeing "HEADING_TITLE_ORDERS_LISTING" above my list of orders. There use to be something else there and I can't recall but this doesn't seem right.
...
This is not caused by Edit Orders. This indicates either the language file for Super Orders is missing -- or -- something is wrong with the copy of "/admin/orders.php" in your store (on the webserver).

landron:

... When viewing "/admin/edit_orders.php" I get a "HTTP 404" error page from my hosting company ... When hitting either "Edit" button (on the orders.php page or on the details page of a specific order), I also get the "HTTP 404" error page from my hosting company ...
This would indicate files may not have been uploaded to the correct location on the server (during step 2 - New Files). During installation step 3 (Installer) of Edit Orders what message was reported in the Zen Cart administrative interface?

landron:

... When viewing "/admin/edit_orders.php" I get a "HTTP 404" error page from my hosting company ... and the url that appears is /admin/FILENAME_ORDER_EDIT.php?oID=562 ...
This indicates not all files were uploaded (or uploaded to the wrong location) - in particular missing language files.

landron:

... Prior to upgrading Edit Orders this morning, I was running Edit Orders ver 4.10 ... It allowed me to edit the quantity of a line item but gave me a blank screen as a result. ...
When a blank screen is encountered there will be a corresponding debug file. The debug file contains vital information to help determine the cause. In the latest version of Edit Orders, one can optionally enable debugging which will generate files with additional information (such as the installed order total modules - 3rd party order totals are the most common cause). Once everything else is sorted, we can revisit this item if necessary.

Recommendations:
Revert "/admin/orders.php" back to a stock Zen Cart 1.5.1 file.

  1. Download the latest version of Ty Package Tracker (TPT).
  2. Install TPT and verify installation.
  3. Record the installed version somewhere easy to find.
  4. Download the latest version of Super Orders (SO).
  5. Review the instructions related to compatibility / installation when TPT is installed.
  6. Install, Configure, and Verify SO installation.
  7. Download the latest version of Edit Orders (EO).
  8. Review the instructions related to compatibility / installation when TPT and SO are installed.
  9. Install, Configure, and Verify EO installation.
This should result in a working installation of TPT, SO, and EO. Make sure during installation step 2 (New Files) of Edit Orders you upload ALL of the new files to their corresponding locations (overwriting any existing files on the server).
