Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

beyre:

I just installed the latest version of this contribution.

Am working on this product:
http://www.theironhorseman.com/motorcycle-store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5_34_157&products_id=4794

When I installed the contribution - the popup stopped working ... in that no image shows when the popup appears.

Yes, all files have been installed correctly.

Second problem:
I went into the Manager for IH2 in the admin and tried to add a second image (the back view of the jacket) and I get the following error:

How do I fix that since it won't let me upload additional images?

I don't know why the attibutes and the images sections are STILL a problem with both Osc and Zencart .... they are so anti-tutive. Other carts, you can upload additional images normally and you can add options easily.

I know I shouldn't complain - am just frustrated that we have been moving from x-cart (which has a great product loading setup) to zencart ... over 4000 products ... and can find no easy way to do the additional images since x-cart named them: d_5000.jpg, d_5001.jpg, d_5002.jpg ... Thusly, I'll have to rename all of them (if and when I can find the approprate ones) and pray they load correctly. Some products have upwards of 12+ additional images!

Have you tried other additional images?
Is this just the one product you are having a problem with?

A few things to look into.
The main image as become corrupt. Delete and upload a fresh copy.
Clear the image cache
Image has spaces in file name.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

Well, I'm confused.

After everything I did last night, I got it to work on this product:
http://www.theironhorseman.com/motorcycle-store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5_34_157&products_id=4794

Now I do the exact same thing on another product and I'm still getting the same error message:

Error!

Unable to determine the page link!

Function used:

zen_href_link('', '', 'NONSSL')

beyre:

Yes, I did the 777 when I uploaded that folder. But I'll double check.

Edited: yes, bmz_cache is 777

I think you should set your images folder and the BMZ_Cache folder at 755 for security reasons. Note it doesn't have to be 777 to be writeable since i have it set to 755 and it works perfectly.

In your zencart admin section go to tools and image handler 2 and clear the image cache.

There is a lightbox addon ( one of several ) which sounds ideal for you as it works with additional images and will make your site look better so it's worth hunting that down and searching these forums for more information.

Lastly i reall think your larger images should be larger than you currently have them set for...Too small in my opinion.

Medium could be slightly larger as i think it's too small but thats your choice.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

Thanks for everyone's support and help. Truly appreciated!

I got IH worked out and am cruising along.

I have to go and rename additional images do it adheres to the main image's name_01.jpg, name_02.jpg, etc. Upload those, and viola!

When we imported the images from xcart, many times, it took one of the additional images and made that the main image ... so you see a lot of backsides or sides LOL. So, I had to go into the product and switch.

I have a lot of work ahead of me, but thankfully not all of the 3300 products have additional images ... perhaps just half of them. Just. :shocking: LOL

Glad you got it going, but...you don't have to rename additional images, IH does that for you, just upload them to your product with IH.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

hi there,
I'd like to know how to set the size of hover/medium image that auto display when I move the mouse over the product?
I searched in the admin\image area but see only small and large size.
Thanks.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

I went to use an animated gif as a category icon but found IH2 killed the animation but displayed the gif in static or frozen form.

I do not know how to describe the gif (a merry-go-round) other than that it has the code for animation built into the image, like the animated smilies. The gif works when placed elsewhere on the page, such as in its own <div>.

The gif is only used once for a sub-category page (ie Index/Art/4D), for which there is no Includes/Modules/Page/Art (IIRC) to insert animation script, if I even had as much.

Tips or tricks greatly appreciated. TIA

Search this thread for the why gif animation does not work with IH.
(quick answer = perl)

Your work-around.
Configuration/Images
change the size setting for category image so not to match the small image setting.

My bad, originally searched "animat", then "animated" and found only one response, but then searched "animat*" and found the others. Perl, arghh, not another program to learn.

Just to clarify, as I am not currently connected to localhost, if I make Configuration/Images/category image 1px taller and wider than Configuration/Images/IH small image (or whatever it is actually called), this should work.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

i am having a problem with png images. i can't use them. in the admin section i get this error:

Warning: imagepng() [function.imagepng]: gd-png: fatal libpng error: zlib error in /home/skinze1/public_html/includes/classes/bmz_image_handler.class.php on line 646

if i change the image to jpg, it works fine.. i also noticed that when i go into the 'preview' section in image handler for these images, jpg and gif show a rectagular colored image and the png shows a very small checkered box.

Could be your server/host doesn't have GD support for png files turned on or have not installed that package.

Admin--> Version and scroll to the gd & zlib heading to see.

Hello there,

Just wondering how I could replicate the same thing as in this webpage...http://tokyotoys.com/index.php?main_...oducts_id=4737

When you click on "larger image", the pic is different from what is on the product page (seems like a zoom in of the larger image). This is something I wish to achieve to allow my site to have similar image size for product page.

All the best...

Hello again,

I got it the way I want it to be but does it have to be done 1 by 1 and thru the IH2 admin only? Any quicker way to do it?

All the best...

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

Hi
I am fairly new at this so please bear with me. I have latest version of ZC and IH2. I want to use multiple pictures which are about 1600 X 800 and 800 X 800. Some are 190 kb in size. I used these on Auctiva and Ebay and really don';t want to redo all the pictures. How much will these slow the site down if I use them in this size? Am I better off to resize them smaller so pages load faster and how much difference would it make. What is the best size for pages to load reasonably quick?I will be selling, tokens, medallions, notes, etc and want people to be able to see the item and details clearly for both sides of the items. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

John,

IH2 will automatically make smaller versions of your images. This allows your pages to load quicker but still allows visitors to click on them to see the larger versions as well. The specific sizes are determined by the Zen admin, as I recall.
